The difference between anarchism and liberalism on this front is that anarchism has never been successful at anything. Anarchists have barely mastered "running an off-putting bookstore"

“I’m a communist and suspicious of big government” either commit to anarchism or vote for Ron Paul’s dessicated corpse

When anarchism isn't being villified as evil it's being dismissed with an eyeroll by people who think they know better. But in Minneapolis, we're seeing the power of this maligned philosophy.

Minneapolis Shows Us Anarchism at Work — Assigned
The trans community should look to Minneapolis as an example of how leaderless, bottom-up organizing can be more powerful than traditional politics in making change.

Insurrectionary feminist anarchism is such a secure home for me in a way mass movement focused anarchism never could be because it starts with acceptance that the most crucial conflicts are and will remain profoundly asymmetric, then challenges one to develop a principled response from that point.

the greatest argument for anarchism is a conversation with the average leninist

and the greatest argument for leninism is a conversation with the average anarchist

An anarchist should be thrilled by these ordinary people discovering and implementing practical, prosocial anarchism.

is there a greater "hey i was also there doing stuff too" ideology greater than anarchism

It’s the state attempting to demonize Anarchism

He wrote a zine where his solution to rape under anarchism was that if you get raped you tell your friends about it and they’ll kill the guy for you

the cause of anarchism is even more poorly served in this country that socialism and boy that's a tough mark to beat

from some of the replies it's evident that my first post isn't clear, so: i'm agreeing with Robert in my quote of him, the "chill out a little" is directed at libs trashing anarchism, not at him

I'm friends with some anarchists who are genuinely lovely people, but talking to them about anarchism almost always ends this way.
Oh Jesus take the wheel this is such pretentious bullshit it makes me want to start drinking again.

That's not entirely true. Post-left anarchism was/is an effort to deal with the failures of 20th century anarchism.

The reality is not everyone is going to agree to the same political program no matter how well thought out or argued.

Surely under anarchism everyone will be so virtuous that they’d never just use that as an excuse to kill someone

Excuse me, what services? He literally said he wasn't an Anarchist and came up with that "justified hierarchies" trojan horse shit that has been misrepresenting Anarchism for decades.
February 6, 2026 at 3:53 PM
Which is still a problem, but look, anarchism should not be put on an equal footing here.
February 4, 2026 at 12:23 PM
tbf that guy is doing anarchism rather than Marxism-Leninism. but yeah, not someone who's in it for improving people's lives

Anarchism is pretty cool
February 5, 2026 at 3:26 PM

"a bunch of lies about nonviolence and the civil rights movement".

He's rocking the black "anarchism" flag but I'm seeing some red flags myself.

Every time hierarchical ideologies fall apart, it’s anarchism that thanklessly arrives to save the day
