#Dysbiosis
First paper of my PhD published 🎉

doi.org/10.1186/s129...

It's about immunity in acoel worms and its link to photosymbiosis. There's evolution and immune gene expression, but also mortality, dysbiosis, and host responses upon pathogen exposure.

Absence of conserved immune signalling pathways and increased pathogen susceptibility associated to photosymbiosis in acoels - BMC Biology
Background Host immunity plays an important role in coral symbiosis with dinoflagellates. Photosymbiosis (the association between hosts and photosynthetic endosymbionts) has evolved multiple times wit...

"Recent studies have illuminated the potential role of fungal dysbiosis, particularly involving Candida albicans, in driving neuroinflammatory pathways, neurotransmitter imbalances, and mood dysregulation."
Gut mycobiome and neuropsychiatric disorders: insights and therapeutic potential
The human gut mycobiome, a minor but integral component of the gut microbiome, has emerged as a significant player in host homeostasis and disease development. While bacteria have traditionally been the focus of gut microbiome studies, recent ...

Now in my sixth year of long Covid, facing malnutrition from starvation due to poverty, dysbiosis from covid-related IBS, & hundreds of new food allergies & sensitivities from covid-induced MCAS, on top of the pancreatitis & gall bladder attacks from the MCAS too, I concur

WEAR YOUR FUCKING MASKS
Facing malnutrition with,so far, no medical explanation, now in my third year of long Covid, I said to my therapist yesterday “I feel like Dante created a special level of hell just for me” and she said “yeah it sure seems like that,” so all I can say is

Wear a mask, you dumbasses.
Experts call for N95s over surgical masks as flu and COVID viruses spread.

Not a quick fix ... I went down a rabbit hole on this a while ago since I have always had a 'funny tummy'--this part was interesting to me. I don't take probiotics daily, only when things get out of sync (antibiotics, flu, etc.).

/2 When you flush everything out like this, it can create a dysbiosis in sensitive individuals; I know multiple people this has happened to. Then, in this environment, there is less beneficial bacteria and zinc, among other minerals, left to keep H Pylori in check. /2

one of the reasons that attempts to normalize fluoride denialism makes me so crazy is because, despite how important oral health is, oral health is not JUST about oral health e.g., there is suggestive evidence of a link to Alzheimer's disease from poor oral health

And dysbiosis, although AFAIK it's not specific to the small intestine
