#COUNTERCULTURE
Fondue grew up in the underbelly of Lumiose City. He turned to counterculture and music to express himself. In college, he was roommates with his future partner. The two would go on and open a café together, where Fondue manages the live musical acts!

We said he was a Nazi and you laughed at us, and now he's doing Nazi shit. Ok????? There is nothing we could have done that would have satisfied you, because you were determined to make "counterculture" your political brand.

The definition of counterculture is that only a minority are into it.
and if wherever you land your riposte is, "but things went wrong because not enough people followed MY ideology" well maybe your ideology should've been fucking better at convincing people huh

Punk and hardcore are more than genres — they are **raw expression, community, and counterculture**, shaping attitudes across generations. #Punk #Hardcore

i think at least some people get into protesting/anarchism/counterculture based on the premise that, essentially, they are setting up a parallel society that doesn’t recognize any of the rules of the dominant society. this is what i found appealing when i joined these movements when i was younger.

while I'm asking for things, I'd also like to see a creative leftist counterculture re-emerge tinged with punk-rock era antifascism, but modernized for the meme age in a way that finally puts a bullet in the head of pseudo-edgy gamergate MMA-bro neonazism

I won't claim to have extensive knowledge of 90s advertising, but my understanding of it is that it's provocation without insult, and that it did not exist in a vacuum. IE it very much was part of a wider counterculture movement. That "ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID" meme fails at both imo

As if politics aren’t directly threatening the careers of nsfw artists as we speak, as if porn was never inherently political counterculture

I often feel #SarahRecords gets a bit unfairly overlooked in the Bristol culture / counterculture narrative - what with our total failure to ever be cool - so I’m extra pleased we’re included in the lovely looking A Bristol Con Banksy, taking our rightful place between Massive Attack and Cary Grant.

Another thing that I have noticed after nearly two decades in New York state, is that Northern liberalism really is a thing. Even rural central NY still has plenty of counterculture and free thinking (not just in Ithaca). Rural conservatives may vote Republican, but they want to leave people alone

Loads of separate discourses occurring that basically boil down to some fringe counterculture dipshits looking in the mirror and saying ”having transcended the mediocre mainstream I think I might have also transcended the need for conventional good and evil?”

Rant Incoming:

Looking back at punk scenes, zine culture, and the DIY, anti-embellishment ethos of counterculture, it’s hard not to see that same mindset reborn in the indie game dev community.

Gen X discourse seems to have raised its head again. Look: if you think we're all supposed to be cool, you're thinking of the *counterculture*. Most people were & are not that. Speaking here as someone from pretty far in the underground of that time, most people my age were conformists.

Andrew Root makes the great point that one place neoevangelicalism and the counterculture of the 60s converged was thinking there was a “The Society” they could set up a parallel society against, but the problem is there is no a “The Society”
the problem is that it’s not true that it’s actually a parallel society. the people who liaise with mainstream society hold the power. this means real power dynamics. pretending that the countercultural stuff erases that actually *gives more power to the privileged*

Something I never thought about: is there Millennial counterculture?

its very strange, and frequently offensive to me as a queer person, that a substantial chunk of the queer community online seem to believe that queerness is just an aesthetic of being edgy and counterculture and not, you know, having a non cishet gender and/or sexual orientation

On this day in 1967, Jefferson Airplane released 'Surrealistic Pillow.' Fueled by Grace Slick’s arrival, it became a psychedelic cornerstone, spinning "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" into counterculture anthems.

i am also going to refrain from speaking much on this because i think other people have said my own thoughts better. all i will say is that its wild to me how so many people will act like theyre being progressive or engaging in counterculture for eroticizing abuse when this is our reality.

#hivemind #nytsb #nytspellingbee I had a sudden insight about this🐝-that in order to make👑occur, I needed to hit a certain bowling target, sing a praise-song to Jerry Rubin & 60s counterculture (does that word need a dash?) & eat an apple & an Italian sandwich
