Curious how as sample N goes up in a survey, separatism polls worse and worse
The only time separatist sentiment has even breached the mid 20%s with actually reputable polling firms doing decent samples was actually right after trudeau got his third term and even now isn't anywhere near those numbers.

This court martial excerpt from the CAF reddit genuinely has me laughing out loud, guy ate a $200 charge for this but honestly well worth it for the opportunity to put it on permanent record.

Everything makes sense if you consider the pipeline a cultural project as opposed to an economic one. The shibboleth of building a pipeline right now is much more prescient than whether you end up making any money off of it or it making sense.
fwiw, i think there was some value in Ottawa proving that they weren't the ones constraining conventional energy production, because the future of Alberta comes down to the UCP's desire to make money vs their desire to become separatists

He's getting some hate but he's right. Any sweet pie flavor can be done better as a cheesecake.
I get a lot of hate for this view and in turn I'd only ask if you've ever had a pie as good as a typical cheesecake. The answer is no, you have not. Cheesecake invalidates the whole pie category. Hell, regular cake barely survives the cheesecake onslaught on the strength of carrot cake alone.
The dirty secret of pies is that they have the lowest ceiling potential of all sweets. Your best pie is merely fine. Your median pie is bad.

The best way of knowing whether you're a real Canadian defence and politics knower is when you're trawling the blandest news sites imaginable covering total glup shitto govt initiatives and you start getting full page splash ads from Hanwha Ocean and Saab.

I wonder what China's spare transformer manufacturing capacity looks like? Ukraine gets to pull from the west and most utilities here are facing one to seven year lead times, with only off-the-shelf style units with no modifications making up the lower end of that estimation.
Shatura power station in Moscow region was hit overnight, igniting transformers at the 1500 MW facility with locals reporting at least six strikes.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it but isn't it kinda weird some people say "Bless me" to themselves when they sneeze? Either you're directly blessing yourself, which, under what authority? Or you're calling out to God to directly confer blessings on you, which seems quite selfish?

Time to find out what's more powerful: a direct referral from a member of the team the opening is in, or the might of a large corporate HR department

If this government has any juice whatsoever a couple mad farmers shouldn't even be a thud under the tires of this project.

Dropping my life's savings on whether sportsball man high fives his friend two instead of three times this match should at least be a little more annoying than logging into any given corporate outlook account.
I’m still against making sports betting illegal - better to have it run by a corporation than by the mob - but I am 100000% against “frictionless” sports betting. You should not be able to place a depraved parlay from your phone
The Athletic polled hundreds of players from across the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL about their opinions surrounding how sports betting impacts players — the responses were haunting.

Battletech is the most neoliberal scifi universe out there because nearly every single person in power is both nobility and very very stupid, and the only people who actually do anything but fall flat on their faces are mercenaries and a telecommunications monopoly.

This week I signed off on the final bits of paperwork that means my life is now 100% civilian owned and operated. This means I am now free to get truly deep and political:

Berets suck to wear and look bad, the CAF needs to get over its ingrained aversion to americanisms ands get us a normal hat.

Every democratic nation, presumably with an eyepatch and cool scar:

"We endured our own people turning against us, nearly lost our governments and way of life to populists, it was terrible, surely no one got to ride it out with back to back decades of liberal technocratic governance"

IMHO any exercise in beating populist candidates is kind of a temporary delay of decline unless we can figure out how to re-establish baseline reality. How we actually achieve that without violating people's right to speech, or at least, it feeling to the public like a violation, I'm not sure of.
