It’s a slippery slope. Once you admit that people generally don’t do things that are both unprofitable and hard work/expensive/not fun for very long, you might end up thinking that maybe markets are useful for some things.

Because I’ve pointed out BlueSky, like most forums and social media have “AI” for detecting known CSAM. Which is in fact, not usually even Gen AI and has been that way for a long time

Tbh I read this more as OP creating a permission structure to abuse the people they are responsible for in real life in the way abusive counsellors/social workers/teachers/medical professionals do so they can tell themselves they’re still caring professionals

“Bullying” is bad by definition. It’s not a value neutral tool to be deployed positively toward good ends. It’s so fucked up that people want so badly to reclaim this thing, and are so eager to do it that they want to brand things that aren’t bullying as bullying.
"Some people deserve to be bullied" is always wild to see because it's so deliberately childish as to make it difficult to imagine the person saying it has the moral capacity of an adult human being.

I think one of the things that I have pissed the most people off across the most social contexts, over decades, is asserting a fairly simple claim: people who spend a great deal of time and energy policing/defining social norms in a particular setting probably enjoy doing that

I think there's always been a "I'm just a working class / I worked my way up / blah blah" illusion plenty of people used. "I earned this job at my dad's dealership!" etc. I do think in very lefty spaces there is a similar but distinct deep poverty cosplay, nearly identical in purpose though.
