this hasn't really broken through to most people but the state of the games industry is *dire* right now.
I don’t talk about it much because the situation doesn’t really change but it’s still insane to me what an enormous amount of really talented game developers are out of work. just whole studios worth of incredible people, often people who worked on beloved games, unemployed.

That would imply the industry is making games worth $100. Which it's not.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

i made posts in the past in support of Graham Platner. i have reevaluated based on further information (Nazi tattoo) and no longer am in support of Platner. the best part about living in a democracy is being able to change my mind about my vote.

For what I do professionally and/or regularly, Adobe and Microsoft are the industry standards and whether I like that fact or not, it makes good business sense to maintain those subscriptions. It does mean their direct competitors have to navigate around the "industry standard" fact of life.
In a professional environment you need Adobe. It is a standard giving interoperability. As good as Affinity is it does not have that wide a reach. Copying their subscription tactic does little for them but pisses off the target audience they had.
