Every time someone insists the AI detractors sound like unhinged lunatics, I think about how the Luddites were fighting for labour protections.

I keep saying folks need a hobby that involves their hands. I don't care if it's knitting, painting, drawing, scrubbing behind the toilet until it's cleaner than an operating room, getting free puzzles from your local Buy Nothing group....you need to do something with your damn hands!
Humans are built to do things with their hands. Making bread, knitting, carpentry, puzzles, painting, chop wood, carry water... I suspect this is also why I find writing long hand so soothing. We're doing less and less of this, and it's shown up in our mental health.

In this new year, it is ok to have no goals, one goal or just to survive.
Surviving is no small thing right now. It is enough to manage your body-mind in the new year, especially if you're chronically ill, disabled or have a target on your back.
