thank god. we do not need even heavier pickups on the fucking road.
Wow, Ford done with the F-150 [BEV] Lightning.

"Ford is rethinking its EV and battery strategy, dropping the all-electric version of the F-150 Lighting and putting more of its money into hybrid trucks and energy storage to support data centers and grid stability."

Ford pivoting to hybrids, dropping all-electric F-150, sees $20B in charges
By 2030, about 50% of Ford's global volume will be hybrids, extended-range EVs and electric vehicles.

One of many perks to driving a stick shift is that when it’s 1°F out, I can leave my car running with the key in while stopping at the convenience store bc if someone tried to steal it, there’s a pretty good chance they’d just stall out in the parking lot.

Then she said well actually conservatives are great I want them in my cabinet
Kamala said "We're not going back" and a bunch of people decided "Nah, we actually do want to go back."

She did not almost win, please go to therapy
Kamala Harris may never be president, but the fact she almost won despite facing the prospect of a landslide defeat shows that she paved a new path.

25 years of the center being completely unprepared for what was coming
In terms of US politics, Bush v. Gore is the defining event of the century. It set the template: a ruthless right that instinctively seeks power & doesn't give a shit about rule of law...and a bunch of hapless, feckless octogenarian Dems worried about the good opinion of centrist opinion columnists.
The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.

Here's Sandra Day O'Connor endorsing News Max levels of voter fraud conspiracies in the 2000 election.

My friend is extremely well off but because he grew up poor he still has those quirks and one of them is going until Monday without hot water because having a new hot water heater installed tomorrow is "too expensive"

It wouldn't even be as expensive as the dinner we're about to go eat tonight.

Reading would interfere with extracurriculars
In American high schools, many teenagers are assigned few full books to read from beginning to end — often just one or two per year, according to researchers and thousands of responses to an informal reader survey by The New York Times. trib.al/gNp7kWK

this is basically as literate as the kids are ever going to be
the 6-7 phenomenon is in no way different from any other catchphrase that kids have yelled out at any point in the last hundred years, there's no daylight between that and when i was in high school, the year straight where every guy kept yelling "i'm rick james bitch"

G'Kar's "we will be free" speech from The Long Twilight Struggle
babylon 5 is cheesy and dorky sometimes, and then sometimes they make a choice like having a news anchor break down and cry when going on air after a fascist leader is killed because they get to deliver their first uncensored broadcast in a long time and you're like goddamn

i dont care about EVs but how do we convince Trump that our beautiful lovely sedans, coupes and wagons are threatened by ugly trucks
Trump is gutting car mileage standards, the same as adding 165 million cars off the roads for one year. His new rule will require only an average of 34.5mpg for cars and light trucks in model year 2031, down from the standard of 50.4 mpg set by Biden. This new rule continues Trump’s war on EVs.

bud no one cares because more importantly he's just the fucking ur-Conservative
Just the very idea that Trump was a Russian asset and that the threat never taken seriously is beyond me.

I'm sorry but I don't think what Lizza is doing is comparable to revenge porn. Nuzzi has made a lot of serious allegations against him over the course of 2 years and he is responding.

Some of the rollout has been tacky, but it's not illegitimate to set the record straight and tell the full story.
