Hey! It's midnight on the east coast, so it's release day. Thanks to @undertow.bsky.social for being such a fantastic publisher. Thanks to family, friends, and fellow writers for their support. The short fic grind has ups and downs, but it's a blast. Fricken love what we do. Thanks for reading.
Had a blast talking about the collection and a number of other writing topics. Most detailed questions I think I've gotten on a pod to date. Thanks for having me on!

three people buying a book we didn't really have on our radar at my old bookstore was instant "order more, face it out, somebody on staff read it and write a talker for it" territory
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

"Montresor! Ha-ha. This is a very good joke, indeed. Many times
will we laugh about it — ha-ha — as we rank Star Wars—ha-ha.”
“Of course. As we rank Star Wars.”
“But is it not late? [...] They will be expecting us. Let us go.”
“Yes. Let us go.”
As I said this I lifted the last stone from the ground.

Here's a different take on the koi drawing.

I have trouble controlling my lines sometimes because my hand shakes. It used to bother me a lot & I'd spend time trying to correct them, but nowadays, I'm like, to hell with it. It proves a flawed human drew this imperfect thing with human intent 🙂
