Crisis (a Democrat is president): grocery prices rise 2% annually

Not a crisis (a Republican is president): the president ignores the Constitution to destroy half the federal government, deploys troops to US cities, surrenders Ukraine to Russia, and then calls for the mass execution of Democrats
The media is saving the "it's a crisis" takes for when a Dem president takes over and starts arresting the people responsible.

my phone once spent like ten minutes at the bottom of a three-inch-deep puddle (I dropped it while freaking out during a sudden downpour) and it didn't blink. never going back to a phone full of holes. (also they make a usb-c to aux adapter, you can get a pack of three for like $5.)
I know it's hardly the top priority, but could is there any way we could add "mandatory headphone jack on every smartphone" to the Woke 2 agenda?

This is, as everyone has said, Real Good. It is a smarter-reading version my position on every "male ___ crisis" story, which is: that's either a genderless social crisis or a skill issue. archive.is/202511101921...

throwaway paragraph from a knock off Mark Danielewski book ass book
The book ends with a poem called "The Ruin", about a ruin, but the poem itself is ruined, full of holes, followed by about 30 pages of riddles that are increasingly impossible to solve because more and more words are missing. I don't know why I'm telling you this except it's one of my favorite facts

a minority position I hold, as a cyclist, is that I love every weird doodad -- ebikes, but also scooters, this weird lil guy, you name it -- that replaces a car on the road, even if it does so by moving into the bike lane.

ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

can't wait for dudes who simultaneously believe we haven't been to the moon yet, and that one million people will "live in space" in our lifetime
Moon landing denial feels roughly identical to the antivaxxers in the early 2000s and I’d bet good money it’ll be part of the GOP platform within ten years
I couldn't leave this one alone. Like it seems silly and harmless, but this is such a slippery slope in to damaging conspiracy theories like anti-vax and climate change denial, so I'm going to keep explaining it in the hopes people start actually thinking about things.
