Let me translate for the men

Navigating relationship emotions is like being copilots. I want to know what all our gauges say but your dude says "Just VFR it, babe", so sure... I could stick it like a Sopwith 880, or you could tell me what's up and we make this thing a F-14 Tomcat.

The old constitutional order is gone, and we should be straightforward about that. It’s obvious that, whatever else is on the reconstruction agenda, ICE abolition must be included.

For goodness’ sake, Bill Kristol is in favor of it. Can you really not get there? trib.al/Au0nOrx

“ICE Watch works because it surrounds men seeking approval with people loudly expressing their disapproval. And the noise has the added benefit of drawing large crowds of bystanders who can quickly outnumber the ICE agents.”
For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

just picture a robot girl screaming down a highway on a motorcycle, hotly pursued by a tide of mechanical horrors, but then a cloud of bright, arcing projectiles erupt from her back like a macross missile cloud and the pursuers immediately start to stumble and crash

Happening Now: Hundreds of protesters are holding a noise demo outside of the Graduate by Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis where ICE agents are reportedly staying. Drums, guitars, pots and pans are in-tune to "fuck ICE" and "ICE out" chants. Riot police are currently in the lobby.

A wonderful essay, however I'd title it differently based on what we've seen the last few days, as well as the essay's own conclusion:

This is why we DON'T fear ICE.

Minnesota is battle-hardened. The unity among us is incredible. We will prevail.
Friends, please take a moment and read this piece by poet, children's book author (and fellow South High grad - go Tigers!) Bao Phi. It's wonderful and moving and necessary.

Why Minnesotans Fear ICE
The weight of state violence isn’t abstract, it’s personal, argues Minneapolis poet Bao Phi.

Any Democrat who isn't saying abolish ICE is serving someone other than you and me.
Wow — New YouGov / Economist poll:

46% support abolishing ICE
43% oppose abolishing ICE

This is the first time that abolishing ICE has received net positive support

ICE not only manhandled and terrorized a 10th grader who is an American citizen, they stole his phone. And then they sold it.

I repeat, they stole his phone, and then they sold it.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

We need our leaders to be here at home and organizing. We need them to be relentless.

They are not. They are not doing everything they can, and the blame starts with @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and trickles down to the rest of the party.

Primary. Every. One.

We could try to make Leiber a posthumous bestseller by claiming his 1943 novel "Conjure Wife" as Dark Academia. (It was filmed multiple times, most famously as "Burn, Witch, Burn" aka "Night of the Eagle".)
It is the birthday of Fritz Leiber, (pronounced Lie-ber) the man who coined the term sword & sorcery and who wrote some of the best work in the genre. I actually read Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser in prose before I read Conan. He was also a fantastic author of horror and fantasy.Just a wonderful writer.
