there *are* only really three that matter in terms of being easily salvageable (Salvation, A Sevenfold Obliteration, The First Ocean), everything else is a much larger commitment, so it's just a matter of coming up with windows for three books without overwhelming people

I keep wondering about mechanisms to edit and release my backlog without having to delay new projects for years while I work through the list

maybe do a 'summer of backlog' or something where I release an old standalone book every two months

I was just thinking that I'm really enjoying The Midnight's new album 'Syndicate' and checked its length to see about recording it to tape, and o holy grail, an album that's actually long enough to put on a 90 minute tape by itself!

tried the demo for Skate Story without being at all into skateboarding and this is just such a fun and weird project, very excited for the full release now

in retrospect if anything was going to get me to play a game like this, 'you are a demon of glass and pain on a mission to eat the moon' was it

thus far the stupid beastfly in far fields is the hardest boss in the game for me in terms of sheer hornet kills, y'know the one that can A: break the arena over lava, B: summon up to two ranged adds that do two damage and C: leave lingering damage pools on the arena that *isn't* broken

I could reasonably go faster if I wrote books that were a bit less thematically heavy or plotted in a more straightforward way, and I could, perhaps should, reasonably slow down to allow more time for additional revisions and feedback-gathering cycles (breaks also)

I'm at about 1.8 ambitious and dense sci-fi books a year, 100-130k words each, but that's a ruthless pace I can only maintain because I don't have a day job and I make some compromises that prioritize my enjoyment of the craft over a perfectly polished final product
