As he reaches for his face and stumbles backward on his heel, I grab his collar and take charge of that precious momentum. Screaming with rage, I jump into the core of the half-giant, ensuring with every ounce of might that he has plenty to falter over. I hope to use my sudden leverage to knock him down.

Right into the closest puddle of charred and molten rock.

What happens next is a blur, but I’ve clutched the battered face of a man who has twice now tried to take my life out of pure malice. His life is now my prerogative, and in my heart I can find no mercy. I feel a grin of malevolence creep up my face as I shove his cranium directly into the smoldering, viscous clay we are all forged from, the sight and smell of charred skin and brain tissue delighting what remains of my senses.

It’s the first time I’ve found pleasure in killing.

And I suspect it won’t be the last.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
