Tonight's feature was 1965's NIGHTMARE CASTLE starring Barbara Steele. And kids, this one is nuts! Not many of the 'Gothic' films I've seen actually approach the sheer level of over-the-top wildness of the original Gothic novels of the 1700s, but this one really does. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

And speaking of Barbara Steele, (when am I not) this is the only Black Friday sale item I bought, the new 4K/Blu-Ray 4 Disk set of THE GHOST.

I think this is the last of the Barbara Steele Italian Gothics. I need. Anyway, it's on the way.

Boom! Get a nifty pre-made cover for your next project from a human artist. Adrian does great work.

Found a nifty little tea shop. They let me try some samples and I bought this lovely tea.

As always, I am most thankful for my friends.

And comic books.

And dinosaurs.

During Hippocampus Press's Black Friday Sale you can get the two volume letters of H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard, A Means to Freedom, for half price. I highly recommend this set for fans or scholars of either writer. 30 bucks is a steal.

Today's movie was 1948's Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House, with Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas. I hadn't seen that one in decades. Forgot how much I like Myrna Loy, and what an interesting face she had. To a large degree I thought Melvyn stole the show. He's great in all his scenes.

Random panels from Tsutomu Nihei's TOWER DUNGEON, contrasting a simplicity of detail Alex Toth would have loved with a mastery of light & shadow, and of perspective.

Yesterday I learned these existed. Today I have them. No wall between thought and deed.

For my money, BATMAN/DEADPOOL was superior to DEADPOOL/BATMAN, but that's not surprising with Grant Morrison writing the DC half of the crossover. Still, the highlight for me was seeing John Constantine contrasted with Doctor Strange.

It is the Birthday of writer Roy Thomas, the man who introduced me to Conan the Cimmerian and thus to the genre of sword & sorcery, in 1973. Lancer books had folded and Conan was out of print, so it was a while before I could read REH prose. Many years later I got Roy to sign my copy of CtB #36

Here's a photo memory, @briankeene.bsky.social . That time I signed the signature sheets at NECON for CLICKERS FOREVER.

The last of the Cormac Mac Art pastiches I needed to complete the set. I wanted the Jeff Jones cover, so had to look around a bit.
