CNN confirms what MSNBC reported live a few hours ago: DOJ is surveilling Dem lawmakers when they go to the DOJ to search unredacted Epstein files.
CNN: "Another photograph - these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked & read by the DOJ"

Monstrous
Tuberculosis is flourishing in ICE prisons across the country, including in the Anchorage Correctional Complex, Adelanto ICE Processing Center, Eloy Detention Center, Denver Contract Detention Facility, and the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma.
I have been informed by U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar and confirmed by the City of El Paso, Texas that there are two known active cases of tuberculosis registered at Camp East Montana. There are also at least 18 cases of COVID-19.

I had been hearing rumors of this from my contacts for weeks.

ICE officials, under a judge’s order to clean up overcrowded and squalid conditions inside holding cells at 26 Federal Plaza detained migrants on a separate floor where they decided the the ruling didn't apply. The revelation comes in a hearing today:

ICE Moved Detainees to Previously Undisclosed Floor of 26 Federal Plaza
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reduce overcrowding and squalid conditions at a Manhattan holding room. Months later, he finds ICE merely shifted floors.

Mamdani is so good at this
If they make a sequel to Muppets Take Manhattan I hope they do it while he’s mayor and put him in it.
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

My HS age son, heavily invovled in Model UN, is very upset about this. It's a resource they use in class and in the club to learn about other countries. The US govt just eliminated a way to fact-check misinformation about other nations.
Trump just killed the CIA World Fact Book, which I fondly remember consulting from time to time since HS, yet another thing made worse for no good reason

White House ‘can’t guarantee’ ICE won’t be at polls
The federal government has historically recognized polling places as off-limits for immigration enforcement precisely to avoid deterring lawful voters.

I've been sorting through my angry thoughts about the gutting of the Washington Post. And while the whole story is terrible—humanly for the talent that has been laid off, and politically for our democracy—I'm especially appalled by the philistinism of getting rid of books and arts coverage.

We should also be clear that Republicans made defunding IRS anti-cheating enforcement literally their number one legislative priority when they retook the House in 2023. Since then they've gotten rid of nearly all the enforcement money from the IRA.

Their goal is making it easier to cheat on taxes.
It is not surprising that the people who are ideologically committed to the idea that government can't do anything right actually suck at running the government.
