i think this gets at something important which is that normal people are rightly pissed off that they’re having normal time stolen from them by this ravaging horde of jumped up mall cops. everybody has to work in the morning! why is it THEIR job to hold their community together in such a basic way!
🔥 From @statuscoupnews.bsky.social : “This is nuts. What the fuck is going on? I’ve never protested in my life… they tell you it’s immigrants — it’s fucking anybody. They’re just trying to scare people. I’m not paid to be here. I have to work in the morning. This is wrong.”

This leads me to believe that up until this meeting, Trump absolutely thought it was "hole milk."
Trump: "It's actually a legal definition -- 'whole milk.' And it's whole with a W for those of you that have a problem."

This is where it is going. This is what Stephen Miller is pushing to Trump. The only reason it has not happened yet is that the violence is obviously coming from state actors. There is no insurrection to control. But we are one incident away from Trump sending in the military.
President threatens to deploy the Insurrection Act against Minnesota.

A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: Are there any backup singers cooler than the Pips? And is there any song where the Pips are better than this? Here's Gladys Knight—who, at 81, is still touring nowadays—and the Pips singing "Midnight Train to Georgia." See you around.

NEW: Important update to this story 👇 — the Trump administration has backed down and is rescinding its $2 billion in cuts to grants that support work on substance abuse. My colleague @citizencohn.bsky.social wrote an update that appears at the top of the article now...
NEW: Last night, the Trump administration made huge DOGE-like cuts to the grants from the federal agency that works on substance abuse and mental health issues. (Mind you, this is an agency for which the administration already cut the staff in half last year.)

This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"

Among my favorite things at @thebulwark.com is the art that @avecruth.bsky.social creates for so many of the articles and newsletters we publish.

I mean, look at these collages, just from the past twenty-four hours. That Kristi Noem image is **amazing**.

In case you didn't catch the insanity behind this story 👇, X recently changed its terms of service so that any new lawsuits brought against it must be heard in a specific court in Texas that tends to be friendly. But tonight the TOS are changing again, so even EXISTING lawsuits must be heard there.

Very good thread starting here from Ken White:

Let’s talk about abolishing ICE.

Very few people who say “abolish ICE” mean “abandon all immigration enforcement.” Rather, they mean “the structure of immigration enforcement is irretrievably broken and needs to be reorganized, just like we did 23 years ago when we created ICE.”

*I keep thinking of the term "de-Trumpification," à la de-Nazification and de-Baathification.
January 15, 2026 at 12:33 AM
I would be okay with NOT abolishing ICE…

…so long as everybody who worked there under Trump was fired, some of them were investigated and prosecuted, the agency was given a new name, the funding was scaled way back, new hires were screened*, and strict new rules governing conduct were in place.

See? We just need to talk to each other.
