Our grade school librarian is still kicking, fifty years later. When she goes (not for a hundred years!), it’s going to break this town.
I have just learned that my Grade 3 teacher, Mrs. Rokne has passed away. She was extremely beloved in my elementary and personally, she is basically entirely responsible for my love of fantasy books.

it was more powerful than the entire gop propaganda machine, including the white house, fox news, and their courtiers in the mainstream media

it was such a compelling story that they had to furiously react with spin. they can be beaten. they bleed.

The starving crocodiles that have been released onto this ship full of children need better training, proper monitoring, and also must cease any unnecessary eating NOW. No children on the lido deck or 1st class should EVER be consumed. That's why I'm voting an additional $44B for crocodiles.

This right here seems to be the operating premise of the Federalist Society. It’s certainly the premise of Kirk-Rogan-Vonn-Zyn adherents.
It also can’t always be the case that law is a thing that only one person understands and nobody else doesn’t know what they don’t know.

The American Way is the rule of law. That means a choice, a battle, a commitment to apply the law. I encourage every American to make this choice. Prepare, as so many have done before, to stand in the arena for your own sake and others.

one cool thing i miss about the NFL of my childhood is that the AFC championship game would have a scoreline of like 42-37 and would be happening on a baseball field

They’ve got a super computer that can visualize every item on every square inch of the field, but they can’t tell the announcers where the ball is placed within the grid.

But sure, let’s let AI take over everything. #NFL

The civil rights movement called its protests "demonstrations" because they were meant to demonstrate to the general public just how evil the status quo was and how depraved its defenders were.

ICE is actually worse than Connor -- he had to be goaded into overreaching, they're doing it on their own
it really is government by a bunch of bull connors. basically walking into traps set for them by their opposition. connor also did not understand that beating the hell out of demonstrators was *what they wanted*

In 1775 a lot of people were unhappy with the King but they weren’t necessarily ready to commit treason. That changed when the King’s troops started shooting their neighbors, stealing food, and raping women.

Much more importantly, will we see ads from Democrats.
The US gov has been big sponsors of sporting events for decades. This year, though, with the backdrop of the Mad King, and the pomp of America250, curious how deep the relationship between the military and the NFL will be at the Super Bowl.

We know we'll get flybys, but will we see ICE ads?

Seriously though. I wonder how differently Europe might view us if we sent boatloads of under-40s over and kept our seniors here, servicing the debt that pays for the boats.

Not a complete thought.

I wrote about Justice Neil Gorsuch Pikachu-facing throughout oral argument in Wolford v. Lopez today bc the Court told states that modern gun laws must have "historical analogues" and, as it turns out, a lot of historical laws are racist

Requiring "historical analogues" for modern gun laws eventually turns up some history that makes even the conservative justices uncomfortable.

Chuck Schumer told us a year ago his strategy is to let it get so bad that voters would revolt in November 2026. Rather than demand action, Democrats have shrugged, said “what are you gonna do”, and muttered something about McConnell.
There are people who could stop this if they wanted to stop this craziness. There are constitutional ways to address a president who is running amuck. Those who could get him out of office don't seem to choose that. This is what keeps me awake nights.
There is no calvary expected.

Or just get this thing off the screen for a few days.
The tougher it gets, the cooler I am. But I spoke because Powell thing is going around as "what a courageous public servant." I don't give a damn about that. It's happening, and that is something to worry about. Not in an abstract "overreach" sense. If they go through with it, it hits everyone.
