What is this shit! "plz follow the law, as you are already obligated to do, and we will give you more money"

If you could enforce these deals for ICE not to do shit it's already not supposed to do, you could enforce the law right now.

If you can't, you should not support giving them more money!
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Senate Democrats’ ICE Proposals Are a Huge and Inexcusable Whiff
Their opening bid should have been eight or 10 bold proposals. But as usual, the Democrats start by negotiating with themselves.

And this right here is why Congress needs to undertake its own independent investigation of ICE and CBP’s actions: the construction of an extra-legal database that track s the protest activities of citizens. If Stephen Miller could not find “domestic terrorists” he was going to make them.
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

It means "we get to enable the Nazis and you can't complain"
We already have a warrant requirement. It's called the US Constitution. If that's not fucking binding them, what the hell does your little agreement mean?
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the party agreed on three main goals:

° Require warrants in some cases and ICE coordination with state and local law enforcement

° Create a code of conduct and enforce it

° Require agents to wear body cams and not masks

She and her team did this by, e.g., throwing a reactionary DNC filled with cops and Anti-Trump Republicans. Most notoriously, she spent October barnstorming with Liz Cheney -- a figure that nobody outside the DNC elite likes, and is hated by both the D *and* R bases.

This was dumb. 4/6

The best time to make comparisons to the Holocaust is *before* they start throwing people in concentration camps. We're already too late for that. Why teach about history if you're not willing to do this? Why remember it at all?

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

In case you didn’t know, being undocumented in America is a less serious violation than Gonzo here’s trespace.

To use the vernacular, criminal trespass is a misdemeanor. Entering the US undocumented is akin to jaywalking, which is a civil violation with a fine.

I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

It’ll be dangerously cold this weekend in the Twin Cities. Windchills will reach -20°. With how violently ICE is grabbing people, they might not be dressed for the weather, especially if ICE keeps dumping people miles from their home or car without their phone. Frostbite hits quickly at these temps.

Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.

Are kidnappings and shots fired not basic day to day 911 calls?
Jacob Frey: "We need our officers responding to the basic day to day 911 calls. We don't have the capacity to deal with that and all of this conduct that we are seeing from ICE on a daily basis. Today and yesterday I was out on a couple major commercial corridors in our city. People are scared."
