If I were a blue state governor, I’d be looking into adding a bunch of tenure lines at my state schools.

I know that seems like “kick ‘em when they’re down,” but it’s more like “let academics who can escape to where they can do real work.”

Builds up your own schools AND protect US academic output.

This really is the purest example I can imagine of a terminal case of pundit brain. This is the end point of American exceptionalism: we will dig our own grave while explaining how we are a people uniquely incapable of digging a grave and this is a garden, actually

Relatedly, the idea that "the press" in the freedom of the press is a class of people rather that a set of actions, is fundamentally misguided. The press is anyone who at that moment is doing press work.
Today's newsletter: Chris Cillizza's response to Don Lemon's arrest was to ask whether Lemon is really a journalist. The DOJ is making the exact same argument. Funny how that works. www.readtpa.com/p/the-wrong-...
The Wrong Question
Two federal judges found no evidence Don Lemon committed a crime. The government arrested him anyway.

And the other stuff men do when they hung out with Jeffery Epstein idk seems like if government prosecutors can say putting your body in front of a moving car so it won't run protestors over is a crime worth going to fuckin jail over (I got a month house arrest) they can find something to pin on him
Welp guess that solves the mystery of who taught Steve Bannon to dress like that

This takeover of our government has been planned for decades. I believe it started in the 1950’s… it wasn’t called christian nationalism back then. Watching the Netflix docuseries based on a book written by Jeff Sharlet, I had my first validation of what I’ve witnessed throughout my life.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

One of the hardest things to explain to people who aren’t here is the very real feeling that we are in a war against the federal government. Not only are we occupied by unaccountable armed, masked paramilitaries, but we are constantly aware our neighbors might be abducted in the blink of an eye.

We’ve spent time over the past few weeks criticizing Democrats who are pro-ICE, like the 7 House Dems who voted for DHS funding.

But this is an important no vote, and it’s incredibly that every Dem senator + 8 Republicans (counting Fetterman) voted against it.

Dem Senate leadership stood up today🎉
The massive government funding package just failed badly in the Senate, 45-55.

Needed 60.

Zero Democrats voted for it.

SEVEN Republicans opposed it:

Budd
Johnson
Lee
Paul
Moody
Rick Scott
Tuberville

(John Thune switched his vote to no for procedural reasons.)
