Wrong.

Campaigning in 2016, Trump would go off-script rambling about how much harder it would be to run against Bernie Sanders than HRC.

Real economic populism that picks fights with powerful culprits at the top was Trump's kryptonite then and still is now.

Trump knows it. Many Dems still don't.

Bothers me when people discuss Left movements in the U.S. w/out underscoring the GENERATIONS of repression, surveillance, violence directed at movements. The "Left" is so disorganized is used as a joke but I hardly ever see those same people saying 'THE LEFT WAS TARGETED & DISORGANIZED by the STATE'

Nothing--absolutely nothing--stops these Dems from looking at the anchor, saying "what on earth is wrong with you?" and going back to talking about 17 million people losing their healthcare.

If you make them look stupid for doing this, they will stop doing it.
decided to turn cable news on to see if it’s true and it is: tv anchors really are just interrupting conversations with dems about this bill to ask about zohran mamdani

this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending

Elites aren't even using their existing mechanisms set up to allow deniable messaging. Go look at PhRMA, the big bad lobbying group; they've got nothing to say about their NIH R&D pipeline being destroyed, nor about the worst regression in public health and vaccine acceptance in U.S. history.
“You know what would help a lot? Some elite disapproval—publicly and boldly expressed. While a successful democracy depends on some degree of reasonableness from voters, a successful liberal democracy also depends on responsibility and even courage from elites.”

The Public Is Resisting Trump. The Elites Aren’t.
The president is encountering little resistance as he remakes our society. And yet polling is clear that voters aren’t with him.

Each time a remotely progressive candidate wins office in the US, the rich declare they're going to leave town. What do they actually do? Nothing. A 2016 study found only 0.04% of millionaires move in a given year due to tax increases. Rich people talk to feel important. Please properly tax them.

the reaction to Mamdani's campaign is clear proof that centrism is a reactionary ideology, and has nothing to do with a pragmatic desire to win.

Congressional Democrats must act accordingly.

Jeffries doesn’t even mention Trump or MAGA in his statement about a fascist assassination of his fellow Democratic lawmaker. It’s deeply pathetic.

The least Democrats in Congress can do is say that Trump and his movement are responsible for this horrible violence.
The culture of violence that has been created by political extremists in this country must end.
