Sorry for doing tiresome journalism posting. Insufferable profession.

Also the job is to be able to understand tests you reported well enough to explain it to others, and each part of the process helps with the other. Unfortunately lots of clowns become editors, as I can now confirm firsthand.
Former beat reporter here: I always found the writing to be the easier part of the process. The reporting was the most laborious and time consuming—by far. To turn your work product over to a computer after you’ve done the really hard part seems crazy to me.
“We plan to hire an AI rewrite specialist to ingest the reporting by Hannah and others and use AI to convert it into stories.”

The editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer said it will use AI to ‘write’ its articles.

Gosh why would a young person who cares about journalism turn down the chance to move to Lorain, Ohio to feed their notes into a story-writing machine and never learn anything about generating publishable work? Big mystery here.

US Troops killed all the guards at Dachau for this kind of shit.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

Maine is a nice place to visit but it’s hard not to notice that every major politician they produce sucks in some way. Can’t be an accident.
i think there’s probably a weak but winning argument you can make for voting for platner over mills, but, mostly, i am thankful i do not live in maine

I got tickets to see Gillian Welch and David Rawlings cover the Grateful Dead’s Reckoning and frankly I am pretty pleased about it.

More people should check out earnings calls in general tbh. Knowing how things work is good and while there is spin, they also unpack a lot.
Their call is at 1:00p ET today. If you're interested in listening to it, you can learn a ton about how private prisons and ICE detention specifically work.

Webcast: edge.media-server.com/mmc/p/rxfc2w...
Or dial in 1-877-250-1553
PSA: if you're interested in understanding how ICE is scaling detention, you should read the GEO Group (GEO) earnings call from today. I don't have time to excerpt it fully but there's a ton of stuff in here.

Not the point but this is actually how my Sicilian-American grandma talked about Napoletans.
“These sneaking and cowardly Sicilians, the descendants of bandits and assassins, who have transported to this country the lawless passions, the cutthroat practices and the oathbound societies, are to us a pest without mitigation. Our own rattlesnakes are as good citizens as they.”NYT editorial 1891

This happened to me too. With all due respect to the missing lady, they need to gain perspective.
NBC News broke into the Olympics coverage and I saw BREAKING NEWS across the screen and I yelled "OMG HE'S DEAD" and it is just about Nancy Guthrie I am so fucking crushed
