She/They | Late 20s | Permanently in questioning hell | This was supposed to be a fandom account, once upon a time

Writer who does some amateur art; will repost/post political things, funny/hopeful things, or just anything I think is nice/educational

I'm planning to make a second bluesky account for my writing at some point in the near future. (Well, I've made the account already, but I'm planning on actually, you know, using it.) This one will be just for me to scream into the void and share things I think are important/educational

in times of turmoil it is very easy to feel like theres nothing you can do to help, especially if you are far away, but i promise buckaroo EVERYTHING helps. there is direct action like donating money or protesting, and there is cultural action like creating art and cultivating atmosphere of change

Signal will never message you like this.

If you get a message like this, SOMEONE IS TRYING TO HACK YOUR SIGNAL.

DO NOT GIVE THEM THAT CODE.

I need people who don’t live in the Twin Cities to stop telling people not to join massive Signal groups right now. People are doing it. They’re going to keep doing it. Give them good advice about it.

The actually practical advice is don’t say anything to 1000 strangers you wouldn’t say in public

mutual aid sounds like a conspiracy when you worship at the altar of uncompromising selfishness and self-interest
Breathless reports on Twitter from Project Veritas & fellow creeps of infiltrating ICE watch signals. I thought, Oh, no, they found a couple of jackasses & are going to blow them up. But no, the "conspiracy" is that many people volunteer, take turns on shifts, and train at nonviolence.

Every person on Bluesky should know:
* Every post on Bluesky is PUBLIC forever
* Every post on Bluesky is archived by ICE, NSA, and many other agencies
* Even if you delete a post, it’s already been captured
* Judges don’t care if you were “kidding” or being ironic

Learning to apply anger productively is a valuable skill.

You can lash out at whatever's around you, or channel it into meaningful action.

i’d also be super interested in talking to people at these companies about the vibe after your bosses ate popcorn with the president during a political assassination. signal in bio.
If you work at Apple, Zoom, Amazon and AMD (not to mention Palantir or Nvidia) i think you should organize, unionize, and hold your fascist enabling CEO accountable.

You are powerful together
An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files

One of my mentors reminded me a few years ago that every time we speak there are millions of new people who have never heard what we said before. It's new to them. That's what keeps me going: the possibility that some new people might take what is said and move the ball closer towards Liberation.

But please keep making queer art if you can.

Making calls is actually a giant pain for me as a deaf person and it *still* doesn't take that long and I *still* do it anyway just in fucking case.... So tldr: listen to Chanda and kindly get over yourselves and make the phone calls.
The thing about telling people *not* to call their Senators is that it takes 5 minutes and doesn’t stop you from also engaging in literally every other available tactic and may reduce resource access for your enemy

So why tell you not to call? Op alert op alert op alert

One of the most critical skills to develop when you’re new to activism is knowing the difference between people who are teachable vs people who gleefully refuse to engage with reality.

We need to change as many minds as we can, as fast as we can—AND we have no time for minds that refuse to change.

I'm happy to say the guys running stuff in my state who made the idiotic decision during the first shutdown are actually doing something about this bill.

Keep calling! Our state's two dipshits actually gained a brain and did the right thing - let's get more of them to gain a conscience!
YOUR PHONE CALLS TO THE SENATE ARE WORKING. KEEP CALLING.

202–224-3121

Three Democrats who previously broke with the party and voted with the GOP are now saying they will not vote for the bill. That’s enough for the bill to be unpassable right now.
DHS funding bill faces new Senate hurdles after another person killed in Minneapolis
Some Democrats who voted for recent funding bills said they'll vote against any DHS bill without restrictions on enforcement operations. The deadline to avert a shutdown is Friday.

TIL about this barrier for deaf people calling Congress.
Nothing definitive--basically we are used to being hung up on because of the lag in translation time, so my workaround for these calls has been using ip/text relay and having the message typed out ahead of time so you can copy/paste it in fast enough before the phone tree or staffer hangs up!

AltNPS posted about Alex Pretti's murder 25 times since this morning. During that time, they spread misinformation about the shooting, lied about knowing the shooter's name, and generally flooded the zone with shit.

They're trying to milk this story for all it's worth.

Great distinction. Observers on the ground are bearing witness so we all know what's happening.

Posters obsessing over watching atrocity videos are just self-harming.
To put an even sharper point on it...

The moral call is to BEAR witness, not to consumption.

In other words: to testimony, not passively offering eyeballs to horrific content.
I say this with love: no.

Every person who doubts the atrocity should witness, so they understand.

There is no need to watch if you read a description of the atrocity, register its moral significance, and commit yourself to speaking out against these horrors.

As someone also involved in humanitarian crisis response for the last 10 years, I absolutely endorse every word of advice in this thread.

Take care of yourselves. We need you in the fight -- which can take many different forms. Subjecting yourself to live violence ain't it.
Like be for real yall. I respond to horrors on 3 continents everyday *without* watching these videos.

Talking to the frontline folks who have beared witness is enough to inform me about what the needs are and how I can help. That's all I need to hear in order to act.
