American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

These people are fucking cowards.
Angus King: "This initial strategy didn't work. And now we have one. We're gonna have a guaranteed vote on the ACA, and it may not succeed. I grant that. But a reasonable chance -- 10, 20, 30% -- is a lot better than 0% which is where we were."

OVER A MILLION USERS

DISCUSS SUICIDE WITH CHATGPT

EVERY *WEEK*

what the fuck are we DOING here
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.
I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

Yeah, One year of ACA is not gonna work for me.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

The most egregious example of this is the launch of Grokipedia, a so called Wikipedia alternative that claims to "purge out propaganda", which is effectively a way of saying that every article will push far right ideology and promote false and debunked sources.

From publishing falsehoods to pushing far-right ideology, Grokipedia gives chatroom comments equal status to research

When companies are using AI to do what entry level employees to do this is what happens. What age group do you think are entry level employees. This is just another example of how AI is terrible for humanity.
The unemployment rate for 20- to 24-year-olds is 9.2%, its highest level since 2016. #EconSky

The only time I show my ID at a grocery store is when I want to buy beer, and that is getting to be less and less the whiter my beard gets.

This man has never done a single thing for himself and it shows. The fact that a man this out of touch with normal society is frankly insane.
Trump: "It's time for Republicans to do what they have to do and that's terminate the filibuster ... we should start tonight with 'the country's open, congratulations,' then we should pass voted ID, we should pass no mail in voting ... you go to a grocery store, you have to give ID."

The American Right is utterly lost. These are people who insist they're smarter than us but pretend to be unable to pronounce the words "Kamala," "Mamdani," or "Democratic Party" (as opposed to the incorrect "Democrat Party"). They invade and bankrupt US cities while giving $40 billion to Argentina.
