translation is a good example of a task that seems highly rote to an outsider, and therefore ripe for automation, but actually involves a ton of nuance and decision-making based on specialized expertise to be useful.
translation is a great illustration of LLM utility, in that the utility is not actually performing the task well, but in providing a way for employers to trade quality for cost savings and paint it as innovation. an engine powering a race to the bottom.
