Reaffirming the Monroe Doctrine is a choice given the term has literally never been used in the history of the NSS. Including under the first Trump administration!

And a mega-donation doesn’t fix the program’s design. It still channels the most benefit to families already able to contribute. If your family can’t add money, the “seed” is tiny, and the long-term value of the account is minimal. This is inequality dressed up as generosity.

Or **and hear me out**, we could do the boring, normal thing where we tax rich people and fund public programs that help everyone.

Infinitely preferable to outsourcing social policy to whichever billionaire feels whimsical this week.

What do we call it when the government takes equity stakes in public companies? Which is what is happening with Trump. It sounds like socialism. Or in Trump’s case National Socialism.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Officials of all stripes should recognize this as Trump choosing evil, aligning with the worst type of criminal, and should force him out of power.

If they don't, they are doing the same and deserve the same.

Ick. So much ick.
Jeffrey Epstein was developing a series, moderated by @lkrauss1.bsky.social, to bring scientists and celebrities together. The first season would include an episode where "Woody Allen talks about the human condition with Linguist Noam Chomsky."

something I've been thinking about if/when we retake power is we're really going to need to shock & awe the elites with accountability. hit em hard and fast. gotta break the entire system and don't give it time to regroup.
Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

And actually astonishing when you think about it: The Trump administration's top officials are choosing to separate themselves from the public—more to the point: separate themselves from any visible protest—and live on military bases.
