I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I took Metro from DCA and I feel bad about this but zipping by alllll the standstill traffic around DCA was kind of thrilling. Wheeeeee!

Would you like more cute transit news bc I’m here to tell you that we have a regional transit card that you use on buses/trains/ferries called the Orca Card, which has a mascot that is (you’ll never guess) an Orca, and his name is BOOP bc that’s the sound it makes when you tap your card 😭
