This quote from Parker's piece:

"But redemption has to be possible...If the goal is to change minds and reduce harm, then we have to leave room for people to change their minds. We have to be willing to say “welcome, glad you’re here” even when the person showing up used to be on the other side."

Ok. But I’m actually more terrified by the thought that many of them are aware that the bonus isn’t coming for 5 years…and are simply in it for their love of what they get to do in the job.
I just found out last night that the $50k enrollment bonus only pays out after 5 years of service, and reader, the laugh I let out when I read that woke the dog from across the house. These absolute fucking grapes aren't seeing a dime of that money. No way they can ride out 5 years of this job.
ICE recruitment is going well.

A “third step” is a clearer standard than a “turn upfield”.
Walt Anderson makes it even more clear that, as to the third element of making a catch, the league focuses only on whether the player took a third step -- even though the rule expressly lists other ways to complete the process.

Walt Anderson confirms the NFL's third-foot obsession with completing the process of a catch
The league office continues to apply its own interpretation to the catch rule.

I've noticed that ICE agents keep yelling "18 USC § 111" at people filming them. I'd like to see the memo they all got on that talking point, and I'd like to know who sent it. Filming ICE or alerting your neighbors to their presence doesn't violate § 111.

Every once in a while some bootlicker toad will pop up with some shitty claim like "none of this would have happened if ONLY they had been POLITE" and aside from the fact that this is appeasement bullshit, it's not true.

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

The Good Place.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

On the one hand, yeah. I get how this can be annoying.

On the other hand, well, I don't know how you get people to NOT assume what you know or don't know.

I tend to think sometimes enthusiasm for a subject online (especially on here) manifests itself in these weird ways.

"I never say no" is horrible and scary, y'all.

Like, the dudes who are going to be using this because they already don't know how to engage with women...are going to have their brains completely broken by this shit.

Where are the guardrails?!
"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

What we call "momentum" in sports is not the physical phenomenon.

It's mental. It's psychological.

Look at what just happened in the ECU/Pitt game.
