Today in planes are unacceptably cheap and trains are unacceptably expensive: the return flight for my next Cambridge-Glasgow trip is sixteen quid.

The whole thing is fifty. The cheapest comparable train is a hundred and thirty.

Purely conscience-based modal shift might take a while, eh.

This is clever messaging because...

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

You get to read things like this.
Thinking about how moving away from people-first is a growing trend, and how this is something quite important. It's been on my mind since my local McDonald's refurbished, and there's a reason for that.

Something nice happened to me yesterday: the conclusion - or maybe not - of a story of interconnectedness, that made the world feel momentarily very small and intertwined.

The story begins on April 21 2024 on a walk I'd taken along the Jurassic Coast for research for a book I was writing.

Astonished at the number of creative intelligent discerning people who casually use “I asked Chat GPT” when talking about their daily lives.

AI is bad, the work of bad people, who hate you, normalised with bad intent.

You wouldn’t say “I wrote to the Daily Mail”

I wish people had more shame.

this guy, honestly. amazing.
Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who tackled one of the Bondi killers, became an Australian citizen 3 years ago.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.
