(just one man's take) "Progressive" fitness has to acknowledge the realities of life-- in all ways. It's a reality that things like strength, flexibility, balance, and eating skills can be developed, we're not doomed to a path. It's also a reality that all of our healths are related to all of us.

a "fit" person is someone who has an active relationship in their body, with the world, in all its sundry contexts and politics. On IG, though, a "fit" person is someone who's often removed impurities and removed themselves from "dirty" life. I can't stress enough how much this thinking is a chute.

This is one of the more insidious brainworms in fitness (you'll also see "take back YOUR health", etc) but: it's an incredibly libertarian (derogatory) framing of our health and fitness. My body (and yours) is more of a relationship than a "terrain to be owned", or a clean ecosystem to be polluted.
In the last year, I’ve had several conversations with friends and acquaintances where vaccines are framed as “my body, my choice.”

Just branching off of this, as someone who spends a decent amount of time talking to elderly people: If you're missing a grandparent and have contact with one of their siblings, and that person is safe to be around and up for hanging out, maybe take them out for coffee and ask them about grandma?
It's so malevolent. On top of all that, the time that's spent talking to your fake replacement grandma is time that you won't be able to spend talking about her with your dad (or your great-aunt, who probably has some different stories) or going through that box of her old letters in the basement.
