Maybe it's thin mental gruel in these morally famished times, but you sometimes just have to stop and marvel at the deranged singularity of Donald Trump's brain.

Elon Musk has never felt the touch of a lover, or heard the phrase "You are fine" from a doctor.
Oates sent Musk spiraling.

I don't know why he's saying "we" won the war when he's on the side that lost it.
Trump: "I was recently at an event and I saw that France was celebrating Victory Day, but we didn't. And I saw France was celebrating another Victory Day for World War 2. And other countries were celebrating. They were all celebrating. We're the one that won the wars."

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Mostly I think that liberal thought is the only thing standing between civilization as we know it and total brutal barbarism but sometimes I think it's a terrible tragic mistake.

Barro's no good but I've been saying this.
Trump's an all-powerful lord with the full force of the government at his personal control!
But oops, he can't open up the government, the mean, devious Democrats won't let him!

Truly incredible new frontiers of fantastical invention in the realm of crime hysteria are coming.
“What are we gonna do?”
“The same thing we always do. We’re going to say that crime is up 834%”

Ryan Adams and Arcade Fire have been the hardest cuts for me from the post-Me-Too era but I'm suddenly feeling way less conflicted about Adams.

Trump and MAGA are incredibly toxic to the GOP brand. Unless they can rig every election in the US for the foreseeable future - and if they could they'd already be doing it - they're going to need to reckon with that and so is the servile media.
My takeaway from the elections yesterday is that it’s one thing to be unpopular and have a large portion of the media apparatus desperate to pretend that’s not the case but it’s another thing to be unpopular and have that be an undeniable fact

I would also note that many key founding neocons were mid-century socialists of some stripe and as in the regimes of Lenin, Stalin, and Mao conceived of the ruling elite as creators of mythic false-reality propaganda to compel the masses but wound up living and believing in their lies themselves.
Still one of the bleakest quotes I have ever read, from one of George W Bush’s senior advisers.

Yeah, Cheney sucked. Youngins who are used to hating Trump and his goblins don't know how it was in Bush II when Cheney was the Antichrist.
Dick Cheney was a dangerous fool. He not only wanted to exploit the trauma of 9/11 to turn America into the kind of country that builds a network of gulags, tortures random unfortunates, and embarks on misdirected wars, he got the whole power structure of the republic to go along with him.

The thing about Ben Shapiro is that he's a fool. Any minority trying to carve out a spot for themselves in the conservative movement - Jews, African-Americans, LGBTQ, Asians, Latinos, even white cis women - is a fool. They're bigoted towards you and they'll discard you or worse. Foolish.
Ben Shapiro was just ratioed by Nick Fuentes on X after Shapiro called out Tucker Carlson and Fuentes for their antisemitism.

The neo nazi right is fully taking over the republican party.

This is correct and doesn't just apply to aesthetics but to all elements of right-wing culture, politics, and social relations.

Guys like the OP lecture the Left about looking down on the Right as if it comes from a place of ignorance but it does not! We know what they're like and we reject it.
What doesn’t occur to this guy is that our cities are stuffed to capacity with people who grew up _extremely_ familiar with the aesthetics and worldviews of small-town reactionaries, and who don’t need to be lectured about it by him, thank you very much.
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

One thing that is really beginning to bend Trumpism towards its breaking point is the simultaneous posing as an all-powerful wannabe autocracy that does what it wants and will crush its enemies and as persecuted smol beans that are helpless before those same devious and powerful enemies.
Trump trashes Obamacare in a new post. Funding under this law is the main dispute between the two parties in the ongoing government shutdown standoff.

Music reaction YouTube is an overstuffed space with far more lazy content than amusing or insightful takes, but where else can you go to hear "Dear Prudence" by the Beatles described as "hard" and "gangster"?

If there's a way that this is at all distinguishable from the Nazis throwing Roma into concentration camps, I'm not seeing it.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

The central lie — the key dishonesty — of modern conservatism is that being judgmental about the ethnicity or language or culture of the person next door is fine and acceptable, but being judgmental of that attitude is elitist and arrogant and closed-minded. What vapid bullshit.

Very true, but also: the Scouring of the Shire! Neither hard Gondorians nor soft Hobbits save the Shire from the destructive mechanized evil of Sauron and Saruman and the orcs! No real difference between industrial fascism and industrial capitalism, says Based Tolkien.
I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it.

The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!
