People's desire for both "refugee" and "colonizer" to be moral (or value-specific) terms instead of simple descriptive ones tends to get them into analytical trouble
The two things aren't contradictory at all, refugees have been colonizers in various situations. I think people have twisted themselves into knots in both directions on this point so as to not acknowledge that there's basically no tension here.
I agree. And yet the narrative in which Jews are cast as colonizers, not half the surviving remnant on earth is what vexes me and perhaps HRC also.

I know someone who was denied an ADHD assessment based on a ten minute conversation with a GP who wasn't a specialist, and the letter gave the reason that "it wasn't having a significant impact on their life". Reader, it was having a massive and obvious effect on their life.

All these statements being made with "utmost regret and sadness" fundamentally don't change the fact that these organisations are all folding to appease one vexatious bigot because she has infinite money, instead of doing the right thing and sticking by their guns and ignoring the Supreme Court.

We (collectively - as a society) need to figure out how to defeat contrived authority, because we now suffer from a society-wide Rapid Onset Contrived Authority Disorder
The Cass Review is the worst kind of pseudoscience & has at least 13 peer-reviewed critiques of it (all ignored by mainstream media).

Streeting now wants a Cass Review for Autism, ADHD, etc.

I have characterised these as “contrived authority” strategies (referring to the work of Max Weber)

1/2
Considering Streeting's well stated belief autism, ADHD etc, along with mental health issues, are "overdiagnosed", I won't hold my breath for this doing anything other than being used to cut support, along with opportunities for diagnosis, for people who need it. #r4today

Enoch Burke was, for a brief moment, the cause célèbre of UK newspapers, because he was attempting to harm trans students. Over the past few years, the media, embarrassed at his increasingly obsessive and erratic behaviour (publicly threatening a schoolmaster, trespassing, etc.), quietly dropped him

Wes Streeting is a rotten sphincter of a spineless mucus oozing worm.
He wants another confirmation bias study to be done to push people off benefits, many of which are IN WORK. Things that help people keep jobs. It'll be the Cass report all over.

What major health event has happened since 2019 🤔.

After the Girl guiding and WI announcements, some comfort for trans workers.

A Scottish tribunal has ruled that a trans-inclusive workplace policy is NOT discriminatory against a woman with gender critical views in the workplace.

A: Who gives a fuck apart from racists?

B: His figure is wrong. 71.2% of Glaswegian children speak English as their first language.

C: So that's 28.8% who speak it as a second and I'll bet you they speak brilliant English and that it's much better than most Reform voters I've met online.

Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Health secretary has asked experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become ‘over-pathologised’ The health secretary, Wes Streeting, has ordered a clinical review of the diagnosis of mental health conditions, according to reports. Streeting is understood to be concerned about a sharp rise in the number of people making sickness benefits claims because of diagnoses for mental illness, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Times reported. He has asked leading experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become “over-pathologised”, the newspaper said, as he seeks to grapple with the 4.4 million working-age people now claiming sickness or incapacity benefit. The figure has risen by 1.2 million since 2019, while the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because of a mental health condition is said to have grown rapidly in the same period. Streeting told the Times he knew from “personal experience how devastating it can be for people who face poor mental health, have ADHD or autism and can’t get a diagnosis or the right support”. He added: “I also know, from speaking to clinicians, how the diagnosis of these conditions is sharply rising. “We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens to get an evidence-based understanding of what we know, what we don’t know, and what these patterns tell us about our mental health system, autism and ADHD services. “That’s the only way we can ensure everyone gets timely access to accurate diagnosis and effective support.” The review, which is expected to be launched on Thursday, is set to be led by Prof Peter Fonagy, a clinical psychologist at University College London specialising in child mental health, with Sir Simon Wessely, a former president of the Royal College of Psychiatry, acting as vice-chair. Btw a) is super hilarious if you know anything about any history, ever. Only complete morons (either MRAs or TERFs) think women are naturally, biologically inclined to be gentle and unwarlike.
There are two models of this type of writing

a) an all-women society is gentle and does not do war (bio-essentialism; trans women are typically absent)

b) a matriarchy treats men as property and sex slave (usually this is some guy's fetish but outside of that it's also not particularly insightful)

This. We do not deserve to be abandoned. We deserve the full throated support of people who claim to support us. Not the apologetic shuffle of "sorry, but it's hard!"
I think a lot of trans people go way too easy on organisations that choose to be complicit in our oppression. I believe this is due to internalised transphobia. We often don't think we're important enough for other people to care about our safety, wellbeing, and equitable involvement in society.
