I haven’t been creatively motivated / driven in some time, but one of my favorite things to do is take a selfie at every AMC movie I go to. I titled the series after a line in the Nicole Kidman pledge of allegiance, “because here, they are”. It’s my very own On Kawara-like practice.
I grabbed Madi Diaz’s blink-182 cover album, the new múm album, Sufjan’s Christmas set, and Cameron Winter. What is everyone else picking up today?
Hello! It's Bandcamp Friday.

I learned what “the grink” is and have delightedly been referring my little terrier as “Mr. Grink” all day. Will the grink be there??

Haven't done this in years, but I was invited to contribute to an Internet friend's 2025 gift guide. Enjoyed it so much, I wrote an expanded version just for fun.

It’s been years since I’ve done a holiday season gift roundup. I was recently invited to contribute five recommendations to an Internet pal’s newsletter, and...

Not trying to burst any bubbles; but Spotify is over.

They are airing ICE recruitment ads, the CEO has been investing in military/AI tech, they barely pay their artists; sometimes a percentage of a cent per stream, they promote “fake/AI artist” playlists, and there’s major concerns about data use.

What a relief it is to not have a Spotify Wrapped for the first time ever because I don’t use Spotify. My guess is, I listened to a lot of MJ Lenderman, blink-182, and Cameron Winter.

spotify wrapped? more like “spotify warped music and devalued labor while paying those who made the songs you love fractions of pennies,” thank you

Literally where I get a majority of my DVDs from at this point. Just put a hold on "The Holdovers" because I don't own it and only want to watch it during Christmas season.

This image is sending me! God bless my good foresight and fortune to owning this show on DVD.
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

Little TV screens at the gas station pump blaring ads directly in your face as you spend $70 on a tank of gas is enough to radicalize a person

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Mortadella is the best deli meat of all deli meats in the land. Those little slivers of fat and pistachio? Perfect.

I love forcing myself to read a book that’s been on my “to-read list” because the trailer for the movie it’s based on is out. It’s like a race to finish before the movie hits theaters. “Hamnet” LFG!
