Even small games have hundreds of assets, so the asset workflows are critical for any project, big or small.

The asset browser is a critical tool because of that. Asset importing, searching, and use, have to be easy to do. I wrote about it sometime ago here: rystorm.com/blog/asset-b...

It's live. Quick demo on Game Mode and Game Instances. Many people who move to Unreal often take an approach that has you fighting the framework. + Game Instances class. A great way to move info between levels.

I love the revamping of Game Developer but am tired of all this engineers first - this is what games are - stories.

game != engine (for you nerds)

Also... the every game has to be a totally new thing, that new mechanics are required versus a good version of something is just lazy and exhausting.

Hear me out, one of the worst #UETips you probably saw. Used a lot in fast protyping if I want to avoid Casts (IE: I don't know the class) and is too early to implement interfaces. You can use 'Set timer By Function' to call it in an actor without parameters and if you set time more than zero.

I highly recommend this book, whether you're talking to someone important, like your special other, parents/siblings or friends, or even business partner/coworkers. It takes a lot to be vulnerable and to speak honest truth, but that goes a long way to prevent the growth of resentment.
