Rutger Bregman: "Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history”. A key line from the Reith lectures, which BBC excised without the author's permission. And now BBC is telling its journalists they may not quote the line anywhere. A shocking lapse in basic journalistic ethics.

The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

Let me get this straight: there is a cut in fuel duty, a new charge on electric vehicles, and a cut in support for people buying electric bikes
When can you declare an emergency over?

The 5p “emergency” petrol tax cut was introduced in March 2022, to offset a spike in prices

They are now about 30p down on that month, & about 50p down on the absolute peak

At the Budget, the Chancellor just announced 250 new Neighbourhood Health Centres...

... but didn't mention their decision to use private finance to fund them 🧐

Why? Are they ashamed of their plan to resurrect the corpse of PFI in our NHS? They should be. #AutumnBudget

Okay so in another thread there was a discussion of whether or not the Dems have a bad habit of "focusing on cultural issues to the exclusion of economic issues" and to that I say: there are no non-economic issues.

Let's take a favorite 'cultural issue' and demonstrate: trans athletes in sports.

The S in BDS is no longer a taboo in the US. Escalate BDS pressure now.

Alongside many campaigners, the Green Party have absolutely dragged the Labour Government to finally end the child cap.

Labour politicians disgracefully defended it for far too long.

This shows why the Green Party membership rising and rising matters.

Labour are putting in place all of the tools and eliminating fundamental protections that will enable Reform to come in 2029 and govern in an overtly fascist and totalitarian way. No jury trials, digital ID, elimination of the ECHR etc. It feels intentional.

This will only end badly.

I’d add: we’ve seen on multiple occasions what it looks like when the British press are as one boiling with white hot fury, determined to rend and destroy until their hated enemies are utterly annihilated. Does this look anything like that and if it doesn’t, why not?
I 100% agree but I cannot tell you how bad it looks that this has become an urgent issue now, when they’re leading the polls, and it was a secondary issue at best for the last two decades when the lads had more important shit they wanted to focus on.

Defenders of Israels war crimes often remind us that October 7 was the equivalent of twelve 9/11s, and that therefore, Israel had no other choice.

You never hear them do the math for Palestinians, who have now endured the equivalent of at least 2,500 9/11s.
