A pair of ragged claws, scuttling across the floors of silent seas.
But I also come back to land to shriek about gay things and books. Very strong opinions about bread.

I have learned that Nicola Griffith is on Bluesky AND has a patreon. (Also, read Spear. It's brilliant.)
I'm experimenting. Want to hear me read the beginning of THE BLUE PLACE—the moment when Aud first meets Julia? Of course you do. And until June, this is the only place to listen.

Also, right now, membership is free...

Okay, story time. I was asked for the tale of my laser eye injury, so here you go. I'm fine. Customers were fine. No children were harmed. The only victims were me and Bob's career. www.funraniumlabs.com/2024/07/how-...
How I Got My Laser Eye Injury - Funranium Labs
It has been brought to my attention that I have never actually written this story down before, merely told it in person to many students for valuable lessons and for laughs over cocktails. It is a lit...

The eggs are also extremely easy to peel, if that sweetens the pot.

Impress dates pulling out a hard boiled egg from a pocket, distending your jaw like a snake, and then consuming it while making direct eye contact.

Then reach into your pocket to offer them an egg.

I've never seen Twin Peaks before, but so far the first episode is full of gorgeous lesbians and I am accepting no criticisms at this time.

If I shake @buehlmeister.bsky.social will more books fall out like shaking fruit from a tree?

I loved The Daughters' War. Devastating and beautiful and GALVA. One of those books that I was crushed when I realized how close to the end I was.

Two more days until it's out and I'm absolutely wracked with yearning for it!
Today I finished THE DAUGHTERS WAR, @buehlmeister.bsky.social 's spectacular and heartbreaking prequel to the excellent THE BLACKTONGUE THIEF. Highly recommended, I love Galva.

I read Butcher of the Forest the other weekand it was SO FUCKING GOOD. It's the kind of book that kinda makes me want to make it my Whole Thing for at least a year.
HEY all my READERS you are AMAZING

Today I was very surprised to learn that THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST earned out! (All future royalties will be going to cat treats, yes.)

Thank you everyone who read it, yelled about it, and forced their friends to read it! :D 🦊🍎🌲🦄

A common mistake many new writers make is crafting a character and then, without story justification or world building to support it, making them heterosexual. This leaves readers confused & takes them out of the story.

Neurodivergent is a great term, it sounds like a class of psychic technopriests or some shit in a sci-fi TTRPG. Like, ahh, yes, the Brainmancers, famed for their inability to shut the fuck up about 15th century Florentine municipal politics.

I have developed a cocktail that SHOULD be heinous but it's ACTUALLY great: 2-3tbsp homemade vanilla extract (with a base of whisky, whiskey, or bourbon, preferably), ice (maybe half a pint glass), then top with Fresca grapefruit seltzer.

Summer alchemy OCCURS and then it's magically delicious!?

Sometimes I miss the ocean so much it hurts. Not just the beaches, but its *presence.* That sound so low it becomes a feeling in the body of a mass moving to the beat of cosmic drums.
