Willis Carto got a guy named William Luther Pierce, formerly of the American Nazi Party, to run his youth group. They had a falling out—as it seems everybody did with Carto—& Pierce reworked the youth group as the National Alliance, under which he published his book—The Turner Diaries.

A significant number of Congressmen and their staffs have been identified as having friendly relations with a straight up neo-Nazi outfit called the Liberty Lobby, run by a man named Willis Carto who has busts of Hitler in his office. Strangely, it seems few are all that concerned. The year is 1967.

The featured speaker was Rep. Watson, R.-S.C., who previously has let the organization use his name to promote its propaganda. Also listed on the program was Congressman-elect John Rarick, D-La The Liberty Lobby is supported on Capitol Hill by a number of other right-lane fellow travelers, including Congressmen E. Y Berry, R-S.D., W. J. Bryan Dorn, D-S.C., John Dowdy, D-Tex., Otto Passman, D-La., Joe Waggoner Jr., D. La., and John Bell Williams, D-Miss. The concern over the resurgence of Neo-Nazism in Germany is such that 29 distinguished Americans, including former Under- State Robert Murphy Charles Saltzman, have conducted an investigation of the German situation. But little public concern has been expressed over the way the same philosophy is gaining converts in the ruling circles of America. No one is investigating the Liberty Lobby whose founder and leader, lis Carto, is an outspoken admirer of Adolf Carto not only has called Hitler's defeat a historical tragedy, but has inspired propaganda in this country against both Jews and Negroes. He has gone so far as to start a campaign to exile to Africa all American citizens whose skin happens to be black. In his letters to fellow extremists, at least those seen by this column, he hasn't said how he would solve the "Jewish problem." Roll Call of Lobbyists Carto has surrounded himself on Liberty Lobby's policy board with such extremists as the following Tyler Kent—He was convicted by a British court in 1940 for delivering secret information to the Axis. The Liberty Lobby describes Kent as "an authentic American hero who was illegally sent to a British jail to expose Roosevelt's criminal war plans."
