DFTBA!

I'm here to hang out, not for profit or networking, nor news or brands. I just like being a nerd about interesting things!

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

The ACA made my whole self-employed life possible. For almost ten years, I was able to build a career that actually worked for me AND keep receiving necessary care to address the consequences of childhood medical neglect. And I still deserved better. We all do.

Democratic leadership:
YOU MUST VOTE HARDER.

Democratic voters:
VOTE SUPER HARD IN MASSIVE NUMBERS AND FLIP SEATS AT MULTIPLE LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Democratic leadership:
WE’RE CAVING. LULZ.

Bernie Sanders: "What this Senate is about to do is make a horrific situation even worse. So let's be clear what this vote is about. If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are gonna see at least a doubling in their premiums in the ACA."

I don't say this lightly. I have been willing to volunteer my time for plenty of candidates that I have lots of disagreements with over policy, even on very serious topics, all for the sake of the numbers balance in congress.

Those numbers don't mean anything if politicians aren't willing to fight.

I phone banked for Jacky Rosen last November. I will never do it again - or for any other senator who refuses to stand up for the bare minimum.

so if I'm understanding this correctly, the democrats are giving the republican party exactly what it wants in exchange for the political equivalent of lucy and the football?

REMEMBER THEIR NAMES.

Time for a change.

The people spoke on No Kings Day.

The people spoke on Election Day.

These Democrats chose to ignore us.

And fuck them all unless they do
Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him

And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.

Millions of Americans went without a paycheque.

Millions more went without SNAP & endured the trauma of not knowing where their next meal would come from.

They suffered because healthcare is worth fighting for.

They rewarded the Dems with a blue wave and Schumer just ensured it was for nothing

see, when we said “No Kings…”
Kelly was suppose to be one of the people caving. Kaine and King are the only confirmed yes votes at this point?
Mark Kelly is a NO on the continuing resolution deal

if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

Let’s be perfectly clear on this: Schumer himself is not up for reelection until 2028. The vote to replace him as caucus leader can happen tomorrow morning. Every day Democrats are not calling for it, they need to explain why. Every. Fucking. Day.

The shortest answer is that the Democrats want the same things as the Republicans because they have the same class interests. They are the good cop to the Republicans' bad cop.

Is there a political commentator or just great account I should read/follow to understand WHY the Dems caved for seemingly nothing?

I’m genuinely asking because this feels like the biggest bungle and betrayal imaginable.

Not a single senate Democrat should be politically safe from this day forward. Not one
Blame *all* Democratic incumbents for this surrender. Not just the ones voting for it. The others could have voted to remove Schumer long ago and install a leader capable of formulating a strategy and holding his people together. They were content to stay with a proven loser.
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

I am tired of the party not being strong

I am tired of all of this

I don't care if you voted no, unless you publicly condemn the yes votes and agree to support their primary challengers I assume you agree with their vote and are hiding behind them
