Fani Willis is an excellent illustration of the concept that MOST Americans are super-deferential to prosecutors to the point of ignoring their bad behavior, so long as the prosecutors are going after someone the Americans in question don’t like.

I'm getting close to the finish line, but also only have a few days left.

Please help out if you're able. Even just a few bucks can make a big difference. And it all means a whole lot to me, particularly right now.

Interac and Paypal are sincerelynataliereed at gmail

Thank you. <3
Starting to put out requests for rent help.

This month is almost certainly gonna be a REALLY bad one, I’m a bit terrified, and any early help would mean the absolute world to me, seriously.

Thank you, and lots of love and gratitude.
I make very little dollary doos and live in a very expensive city. If I’ve ever made you laugh or think and you can spare a few dollars, please consider tipping!

Paypal and Interac are both

Technically, Enchanted, a 2007 Disney Rom Com that takes a not terrible premise (What If Disney Princess Ends Up In Real World?) and drags it out about a half hour longer than it needs to. But my daughter had fun watching it, so it was worth it.
Name the last film you've seen.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

A lot of goyische lack of understanding of antisemitism seems in large part rooted in their impression of Judaism as a religion like Christianity, rather than an ethnicity and a culture as well as a religion.

Every day is shut the fuck up Friday, even for congresspeople.
MS NOW confirms: The FBI is working with Capitol Police to schedule interviews with the six Democratic lawmakers who urged service members to refuse to comply with illegal orders.

There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE for this to be happening.

I had a baby die in my arms of pertussis some fifty years ago. It was a HORRIBLE death. But my fellow nurses said to me, "It's almost stamped out now, they're all getting the shots, we won't be seeing this again."

HOW THE FUCK ARE WE HERE. 😡
A third infant has died in Kentucky, KYDPH adds:

“These are Kentucky’s first pertussis deaths since 2018. None of the infants nor their mothers received the recommended pertussis vaccinations during pregnancy or early infancy.”

All of this thread. I love public transit. I'd use it more, except that there literally is no public transit where I live. I could not go anywhere, never mind do my job, without a car. It's simply not possible.
I am super-pro-public transit, and use it way more than the average American, but I live near a light rail station with very, very stable and predictable scheduling, and even then I would not use it for many things I use a car for because the cost of transit is time.
i wonder how much of Americans' views on driving vs. transit would change if they had to pay for gas/insurance/etc every time they turned on the engine

"i'm not paying $5 to take the train to work twice a day when i can just drive" is a genuine opinion held by so many people

Goddess, sing the rage of Charlie Brown,
Destructive, how it gave the Achaeans endless pain
And send many brave souls of heroes to Hades—
And it made them food for the dogs
And all the birds as Zeus plan was being fulfilled.
Know, oh Charlie Brown, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars
Witness me, Charlie Brown

This weekend's laundry/treadmill movie was Blue Beetle, a story about how Miguel Torres, after winning the Sekai Taikai, finished college and came home to become a superhero.

I joke, kinda.

Anyway, it's a fun movie.

here's a grim little question for a Sunday afternoon! does anyone know stories from antiquity of folks being forced to swallow molten lead? (martyrs or civilians). i know the stories of Crassus and Valerian and molten gold; any lead-based stories come to mind?

Sure, okay, why not?

In the year 2016, I was a bit adrift; my chosen career path wasn't going anywhere. I was more miserable than I would admit. I was also a largely stay at home parent with two very young kids.

Also, there was a presidential election that year.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

- The Owl House

- Little Witch Academia
- Earthsea books
- Discworld books
- Children of Blood and Bone
HBO CEO Casey Bloys says 'HARRY POTTER' Season 2 is already being written

"We’re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap, for the kids, obviously, but also for viewers"

As someone who grew up hearing this, and not to my benefit, I have a whole ass rant about this.

Ended up watching Stardust for a family movie night, and while Neil
Gaiman remains a piece of shit, the movie is genuinely fun.

It is also bizarre seeing young Daredevil and young Superman beefing over a lady, but it was an earlier age.

One of the perks of throwing myself into a legal research rabbit hole is occasionally you stumbling across a real banger, like this one:

The police and the public may wonder why the end product of a hunch, sharpened by experience, should be undone by what the media like to call “a technicality.”
