Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

It's also worth noting that the largest ethnic contributor to American culture is German, with more Americans with German ancestry than any other ethnicity, including English.
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

Sort of gives away the lie that they're arresting hardened criminals who are drags on society when they're setting up traps to lure in Good Samaritans
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Meanwhile, when allegations involve extreme harm and immense power, the process often looks slower, more opaque, more cautious. Or non-existent.

It exposes something deeper than any one case.

Our system doesn’t respond to harm. It responds to status, narrative, and power.

Ending this operation is not enough.

We need justice and accountability. That starts with independent investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, economic restitution for businesses impacted, abolishing ICE, and the impeachment of Kristi Noem.

In an alarming development, it appears the UK Government covered up a massive spike in trans youth suicides after restrictions.

Then covered it up again when caught.

Now, after fighting for years, the data is public: trans suicide increased 5x in the country.

CoRoT-7b is a large rocky planet, 4x Earth's mass, that has an orbit of just 0.017 AU.
It's a sea of lava at 1800K, the remnant of a Neptune-like gas giant that got its atmosphere stripped away until only the exposed core remains; a "Cthonian planet".

A segmented hull and actuated axles let it elevate, depress, lower or raise the vehicle and its gun freely without needing a turret. It must use electrically powered wheels though.

It shouldn't need to be said, but if we apportioned human rights to a demographic based on the number of them who have done mass shootings, all straight white men should be in prison, but, of course, straight white men are never judged in that way, only minorities are. It's ridiculous.

You shouldn't enjoy your job, it should just be tolerable and pay you well enough to do things you actually enjoy.
What’s your harmless controversial hot take?

I’ll start: I think AI is already (proto)conscious.

Of course, I’m also a pan(proto)psychist so I think that’s also true of rocks.

Deeply sarcastic congratulations to online NYC leftists for your excellent work
Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

this is basically what I thought would happen with Bovino out and Homan in charge. Less in-your-face theatrics, but just the same amount of evil and harm. Possibly even more, because they’re more focused on the “mission” rather than just tear-gassing everything in sight.
My sense of Minnesota today is that there’s less tear gas and the same amount of unlawful detention, destruction of families, loss of livelihood, people in hiding.

There is less tear gas at places like Lake and Lyndale, so it’s not making news.
