It’s a lot more community pressures afaik, only some of which made it to professional publications.

Stuff like this is probably why your account is marked as rude.

“Are you saying”

What I’m saying is in my post. What isn’t in my post, I’m not saying. Being an ass based on the meanings you project onto a post notwithstanding what it actually says isn’t a vibe.

The faux feminism at work here is exactly the kind of shit that @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social was writing about when he wrote Elite Capture, the essay and book!

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

I’m not aware of any general prohibition on uncleanness, so even if we admitted so—so what? (But also, do you think genitals are clean???)

Sometimes the Bible feels like that game where each person adds a line to a poem but only sees the last thing the person wrote.

“And they were naked (arumim, singular arom) and were not ashamed.”

“So anyway, the snake was the cleverest (arum, plural arumim).”

In all your googling have you come across the notion of etymological fallacy?
floralashes.bsky.social
That’s not an accurate description of contrarianism. Also, the etymology of Aten doesn’t dictate the meaning of Atenism so it’s irrelevant. It’s also a different etymology than you have earlier.

Nobody talked about starting from a contradiction.

The gender of numbers in Hebrew looks like it was invented by someone whose core guiding principle was “fuck you, that’s why.”

Working backwards from conclusions isn’t always circular reasoning either. Plenty of valid mathematical proofs start with conclusions and work backwards. It’s also a common step in science. So long as you use it in a careful and logical manner, it’s fine.
floralashes.bsky.social
Also, neither of these things are inherently circular reasoning.
floralashes.bsky.social
Okay, wtf does that have to do with Atenism?

Lots of works of fictions are written as though they aren’t. (In fact, it’s not super clear to me that we should call something fictional if it’s a falsehood intended to be taken as truth?)

By the Rivers of J-source, there we sat down and we wept, when we remembered that there were more 🥲

Parents? Some of my students are in their 50s. 😆

Well, “fiction” is a modern concept so it will depend what you mean. But there’s definitely an understanding that there are stories for entertainment and which aren’t true.

You can tell the author got bored writing about the rivers in Genesis 2:14 😆
