(If I block you it's likely because you posted an image about one of my muted words, but without alt text)
I bought a Yamaha keyboard for my grandkids, noodled about for a bit, was surprised how much I have retained having not read music for 40 years, and bought myself a slightly larger one.

It'll live in the office and be an integral part of pomodoro in 2026.
Learning a new instrument has been a nice antidote for that. It’s simple and pure and all about the journey, not the destination.

I think that’ll be my New Year’s resolution. To focus on enjoying the process, even as the world shifts away from that focus.

We are getting to the season of end-of-year reflections, so it’s time to post my annual reminder.

If you helped someone this year or let someone else help you, then you’ve had a good year.

That’s enough.

This brilliant. I've experimented with making similar simulators before, but this from Giving What We Can is so well executed and needed right now... some perspective, and just how lucky we (some of us) are. #charity #wealth #redistribution #fairness #equity #equality

We talk about talking things through a lot. In my professional world, the word "collaboration" comes up a lot. It's one of the principles of my company. But it's *really* hard.

After a break of 40 years I've recently started reading academic writing again.

It's deliberately exclusionary and needs to change.

Making shit "sound clever" is absolute nonsense.
Academic writing isn't natural for me and it's a very annoying process to get my stuff to that point. Shoutout to the folks that help me through it on a monthly basis.

What are the chances of this being a disability dongle? (No I haven't watched the video. If it's actually good for real disabled people, it'll turn up on my timeline soon enough...)

"prevent minors from wandering into corners of the web designed without their safety in mind. "

These places were designed with everyone's un-safety in mind.

Police the algorithm makers, don't outsource the policing to them. They will destroy the (ever growing) margins of "society".
"The Internet was never meant to serve a single type of user. Its power came from universality — from its ability to give voice to the otherwise voiceless: shy kids, marginalized youth, LGBTQ+ children, rural teenagers, creative outsiders, identity seekers, those who feel alone."
When The Internet Grew Up — And Locked Out Its Kids
In December 2025, the world crossed a threshold. For the first time ever, access to the major social media platforms was no longer guaranteed by interest, connection, or curiosity — but by a birth …

My experience was that my mum told her optician about me seeing things floating in my eyes, and they both laughed at me...

30+ years later it took 4 opticians to find out I have diplopia because none of them bothered to ask me appropriate questions...

Not sure what the moral of the story is...
Was just remembering when I was little and I’d wake up in the back seat of the car, I could really see the floaters in my vision, and I‘d lay there with my eyes unfocused watching them slide around. I thought they were friendly spirits, familiar & comforting & showing through from somewhere else

Is education research actually helping teachers?
A recent analysis finds the majority of presentations at a big annual education research conference were about things like “resistance,” “safe spaces,” and “identity." But many teachers say they want ...
