Chicago. Queer. Confounded always. Co-founder of nothing.
This is what the account of the lame duck Dem senator from Illinois is posting. My god
This week, the Illinois National Guard began its partnership with the Portuguese Armed Forces through the State Partnership Program.

I supported this agreement, as the ILNG has long exemplified the “Gold Standard” in partnership initiatives, strengthening both international security & cooperation.

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

I keep seeing people asking why the police aren't arresting ICE or protecting people from ICE and I desperately need you to understand that the police aren't protecting you from ICE because protecting YOU is not and never has been their function and that's why we need to defund them.

The rich people threatening to cancel their Hilton special silver gold platinum bubble gum whatever account “activism” is kinda funny though. Look out the privileged are peeved
As of now they’re not trying to talk me out of it but told me to email [email protected]. That may just be a deflection hoping that if they throw up some hurdles some people won’t cancel but I think they underestimate how much time I will devote to making trouble.
On the phone with them right now.

You can host the armed goons terrorizing our families, or you can host us.

Trump is doing to politics what biz schools taught future CEOs to do: break the social contract (e.g., the one btw mgmt & labor that once ensured steady jobs) & extract all the value stored inside.

This will have the same effect on politics as it did on the labor mkt: instability & immiseration.
If I was the commander in chief of the Imperial hegemon I would simply not dismantle the network of military and diplomatic alliances, favourable trade deals, and broad cultural paramountcy that had made my nation the most wealthy and powerful the world has ever seen.

Jonathan Ross, who shot Renee Good in the face, is local. Derek Chauvin, who knelt on George Floyd's neck, is local.
State and local law enforcement know the communities they serve. They’ve built the trust and know how to keep us safe.

As Minnesotans express their first amendment rights, I encourage you to remain peaceful and know that local law enforcement has one goal in mind: your safety.

Also, whatever your worries, whatever it is they want to do... they're gonna do it.

Polite protest or no, it's a matter of time.
If you’re worried that “protesters getting out of hand” will give the President a reason to implement martial law in an American city, what do you think is happening now? They’re kidnapping and murdering people and the cops are being sent in to arrest people for noise complaints?

They are doing what local and state law enforcement should be doing. They are doing what the Mayor, the Governor, the Chief of Police, the AG should be doing. They are there because officials are hiding in their offices.

It's incredibly demoralizing to constantly see the highest institutions of government and academia and the most important and widely seen news outlets knuckle under one after another, but then to see the gulf between that and the bravery of communities and neighbors and teachers - that's something

Nothing like 57 degrees and a heavy rainfall in Chicago in January along with extreme wind. Basically the usual at this point. In a couple days it will 20 degrees. I actually like winter, climate change is hell.
