Takes my own, probably silly | Tar Heel | Trek fan | Lead author on In The Raptor’s Claws: Earth, Romulus, and the War that Birthed the Federation

https://intheraptorsclaws.wordpress.com/
No particular order here:
1. History of North Carolina pre 1865
2. History of Sea Power
3. US Campaigns and Elections
4. Intro to Comparative Literature (the professor showed us Darmok the first day)
5. Microeconomics Theory and Applications (the first and last time calculus clicked for me)
1. Empire of Emancipation, 1828-1848
2. Body and Power in Colonial Africa
3. Revolution and the End of Slavery
4. London Life in the 18th Century
5. Early Modern Jamaica 1650-1710
My top 5 undergrad classes, in order:

1. Evolution of Animal Behavior
2. Human Genetics
3. Sexology
4. Philosophy of Bioethics
5. Evolution of Sex

Only reason #5 is ranked so low is because of the jarring realization it was all just a bunch of math and statistics (still profoundly interesting)

For anyone out there (for no reason in particular...) who may have read, enjoyed, felt something etc from reading 'Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire' - positive reviews on places like goodreads, Amazon etc help ensure that fictional non-fiction remains a viable option in the future

genuinely don't give a fractional fuck how cornball civics class it sounds, the promise of America is so tremendous that it's worth choking back the cynicism and fighting towards its realization with the rest of our lives

I’ve always personally been a fan of Imperial Guard, a vast collection of dudes facing all the wildest shit sci-fi/fantasy can come up with using…regular tanks. Dudes with guns. Things of that nature.
while it's in my head

40k factions played by people with pure souls:

Chaos Space Marines (love blood)
Orks (love fight)
Imperial Knights (want big robot)
Night Lords (wholesome 100% evil)
Tyranids (love bugs)
Tau (おはようございます!!!)

Do you have a historical figure you most wish got to be a poster? I feel like you must have a better answer than mine, which is Churchill. The guy started autobiography when he was 19 I think. And just never stopped. True poster.

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mad Men, Justice League Unlimited.

Most controversially, I'll say Seinfeld. Thematically, putting the cast on trial for their years of assholery and sentencing them to live in their own private No Exit is sublime. Audiences at the time DID NOT get it. They're wrong
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc
