Working hard on Wild Cosmos, and getting closer to the end.

I want this small world to feel alive and vibrant.

I'm a single person behind this project and if that's the kind of games you like, sharing it and wishlisting helps me greatly.

Btw, since I'm planning to use fixed-point, I've made a generic implementation some time ago that supports any bitness, and is for the most part a drop-in replacement for floats. It's just a single C++ header, maybe it'll be useful for others:

A personal weekend project from 2016 where I added speech recognition and basic "pet" behaviours to the floating alien in Rick & Morty VR. No generative AI - just painstakingly-authored grammar docs.

It would sometimes mishear/misbehave, but that was part of the charm.

a while back i wrote up an overview of the project i'm working on- here it is in case anyone is curious!
i am making an open world roguelike.

i have been imagining this world for years, and i want to make this game so people can go there and live many lives in it!

the game features whole-cloth, accessible design, deep mysteries, and a meticulous generated living world.

oh! that's pretty close to working- it went from my input (1), through the action bar mapping, to an actual skill. the hardest part actually will be making the interface for assigning bindings.

Did you know? Godot lightmaps don't have to be just for static level geometry. You can bake them in child scenes, instantiate them, move them, swap them, etc. Lego pieces for pretty lighting.

Here you can see me baking ambient occlusion into a prefab.

a quick explainer of a really simple and stylish approach to walls in 2d games!

this is a deliberately very easy to implement scheme which looks good and needs very few images. there are two basic tiles. there's 'interior' wall, and there's 'wall front'.

I made a mistake in claiming that Godot doesn't support area lights for lightmapping. Turns out it does through emissive materials! However, for this to work, not only do light *receivers* have to have UV2 unwrapped, but so do the light *emitters*! This is what I was missing. 🤦‍♂️
