I try to avoid "food discourse," but I feel compelled to point out that a homemade key lime pie is glorious.

Yes, HID headlights are very bright but the bigger problem is the proliferation of gargantuan vehicles with 5’+ hood heights so that if you’re driving a normal sized car their headlights are at your eye level rather than seat level like they’re supposed to be.

I was just talking in class on Thursday about the shift over the last 25-50 years to the presidency asserting the power to make war with complete discretion and how that's been increasingly accepted by the country at large, especially media and political elites.

it's important to remember that the past is a different place with different moral frameworks like for example if a Spanish royal from the 1500s was to learn that we had a Columbus Day they would probably think there was something deeply wrong with our society, some kind of foundational moral rot
there is like an *exact* correspondence to this in columbus’s logs where he meets the taino and says ‘they’re so friendly, would make great slaves’ and las casas appends a comment along the lines of ‘look at this, you could not ask for better proof of what an incredibly sick fuckhead columbus was’
