One of the ways I keep my sanity as an aid worker is by corralling exposure to traumatic info:
- limit times: set a regular check in on topics you care about, weekly cycles seem balanced
- limit sources: talking to experts is ideal, but this also could include curating journalists, etc

i put a mask on when i go to crowded indoor spaces to avoid contagious disease and i need to practice similar hygiene with people who, when their panic is triggered, spread that panic. it's an impulse i understand and have given into before. but we need to do better

I just want lawmakers at every level to pass gun control laws. I don't care if you think they'll survive the Supreme Court's tests. They won't. That's a game you cannot win. Who cares? You have a moral obligation to try; anything less is cowardice. There are honorable defeats.
