The Night of Fallen Gods

To integrate a sect of worshippers of the “One True God” further into society, the First Daughter of the Alliance must travel to their Holy City, which no outsider has set foot in for two hundred years.

A map of the Alliance of the Nine from The Night of Fallen Gods Imagine you live in a world where war does not exist, and war knocks on your door. For thousands of years the Alliance of the Nine has stood without conflict. All of its peoples, be they Dragon, Elf, Dwarf, Wyldkin, or Human, are able to live the lives they desire with their needs met. None are considered greater than another, and no path in life is considered beneath respect. Until 200 years ago, when another wave of Humans suddenly arrive in this world from another. These people bring with them their One True God, their Savior, along with a fear and rejection of the peoples of the Alliance, their Gods, and all that they stand for. After a city is built for them, they lock the gates and send out only a few of their number every seven years to convert any they can to their ways. Now the Sovereign of the Alliance, in a bid to draw these Faithful into greater society, has finally managed to secure their participation in the All Gods Festival. In exchange however he must send his only daughter as an envoy to the Faithful’s Holy City. And so Roderika, First Daughter of the Alliance, will travel with her childhood friend Arlo in the company of a Sister of the Church to Megiddo, Bastion of the Faithful. Her partner Tala and magic tutor Henet remain behind in the Alliance Capital, suspicious of the Faithful's sudden cooperation and determined to learn more. But all is not as it seems. Hidden machinations march the world ever closer to an event that will shatter a millennia old peace. Towards… The Night of Fallen Gods.

I guess when you really get down to it, The Night of Fallen Gods is about the right and wrong answers to the Tolerance Paradox. And what happens when a small but extremely driven group of people bend all of their will towards tearing down the society they live in.

Rodgier was trying to convince himself he wasn’t running. With his daughter out of the city, he’d spent the first morning and several days after adrift. He’d woken up to an empty house for the first time in two decades. He’d had to stop himself from making two breakfasts, kept catching himself about to call up to Roderika’s room for her to wake up already. Twenty years of habit died hard it seemed. Several millennia of bureaucracy was basically immortal however. He bore many titles in the name of his city, but they all boiled down to being a particularly powerful administrator atop a mountain of other administrators. Entire mountain ranges of paperwork littered his office. Cases that had climbed their way to the summit past every other judge in the city. Planning permissions that were expansive enough to need his say so. Bank ledgers thick enough to stand on that needed his final sign off after dozens of others had looked them over already. A constant stream of demands on his attention or decision making. And missing his daughter brought no end to the work. Then there was the All Gods Festival making everything worse. It was hands down the biggest event of the year, requiring every guild, temple, brotherhood, and neighborhood watch committee to be coordinated and steered in the proper direction while also filling each person in those organizations with a profound unwillingness to work because of its proximity. Even the representatives of the other alliance cities were off drinking or sightseeing more than they were in their offices.

Roderika and Arlo are my up front weapon fighters.

Arlo is able to use anything you put in his hands as a weapon.

Roderika uses her teachers old sword, which she knows is enchanted in some fashion but not sure how.

It’s worth considering that an overnight dismantling of ICE in 2029 would release into the wild a whole herd of specialists in violence with scant other marketable skills.

I would hand Reka and Arlo a copy of Guilty Gear and watch them take over a local FGC.

Tala I’d give something like Dishonored or Skyrim.

Mary would get Stardew Valley or maybe a Yuri VN.

Henet is already playing Europa Universalis
