Usually I'm on the outside, directing. However, when I need to get into their mind, I will do so. I will sit and meditate, channel them into me. I *become* my characters. I don't usually do actual writing/typing in this state. It's just to help me understand.
When you write a scene with your character, are you the director overseeing their actions, or are you playing the part of one or more characters? Something else?
Does that change depending on the circumstances?

Tynan was born to Fight, quite literally. The other options are simply not actually options in their mind.
Welcome to my first #WritingQ Thursday.
This week's question?
When faced with a dangerous situation, does your character respond with fight, flight, or something else? (See also: freeze and fawn)

The unfortunate part of worldbuilding since the 90s is a lot of things are "too little, too late" for me. I would love to use Obsidian or World Anvil but I can't be bothered to start now😂
I use:
-A 20-year-old Word doc
-One Note
-Wonderdraft (maps)
-Aeon Timeline (timeline)

I got nothing in Welcome to the Good Thyme Inn for this, so I'm gonna do a different story today. Here's the intro from Better the Devil You Know, a short story about Steffa's first day at Five Saints Academy where she learns the man who almost killed her is a teacher's assistant
Please show appreciation for my favorite friend-shaped boy. He floats, he fights, he sucks (affectionate), he's the best and cutest pink puffball around.
What are you favorite Kirby games?
What are your favorite copy abilities?

Hi, Sensei
I refined him later with elements inspired by Genshin's Scaramouche. The big fancy hat, the edgelord attitude, the desire to become a god...
#writingq: Pick one of your OCs. What character(s) inspired their creation?
Veldandi is an odd mix of several characters, most notably Kiki of Kiki's Delivery Service. There's also a bit of Magilou (Tales of Berseria) & Castti (Octopath Traveler 2).

Plant/fungi-based creatures are a good one! I didn't even realize until now they hadn't been included, but a lot of people in my worldbuilding circle of friends have something that would apply. I have a lot, but no art of any of them yet, so my reply would have been text only
"Single-cells? Pathogens? Plants? Fungi? Would those even be popular??" You all showed me!! 😅 Some slots I regret not adding, & others like kaiju, were ones I didn't think about till the month was set. So, an additional Free day! What else did I miss?? 🤔

Skill and output. I severely burnt myself out a few years ago, but I want to get back to relatively consistent output.
I also want to improve my prose. I say this every time and it'll probably be my answer the next several times I'm asked. I'm never happy with my prose, lol
January 30th: What's the next evolution you would like to see for yourself as a writer? (in terms of skill, output, input, etc - maybe focus on things you can control and not pipedreams)

I'll choose a fellow autistic author, @kiraofthewind.com!
Her monthly worldbuilding prompts are helpful and fun. I've not read her books yet, despite being enamored with her bug themed worldbuilding, so I just bought Merchants of Knowledge and Magic to correct this oversight.

I promised to talk about my cruelty-free silk today, so now I'm going to talk about MOONBEAM MOTHS. So, most of their caterpillar life is the same as irl silk moths, with the exception that they are Wind elemental creatures and evolved to only eat when there's sufficient wind around.
The tough, the squishy, just don't tell them that they're spineless, it's invertebrates day! They're (usually) smol but they work real hard in their colonies, weaving webs, etc., so what sorts do you have?

As a reminder I built a feed to collect up Kira's daily card posting so if you get behind, it's easy to catch up!

There's one for responses too so you can find the folks who misspell the tags or post separately. 🤫

How prepared is your character?
Do they plan for every contingency and occasion? The type to have duct tape, Advil, and a sewing needle in their bag?
Or do they pack light and figure things out on the fly?

Steffa sometimes needs to use a wheelchair after she uses her magic. She has a condition where, if she uses magic too much, her blood 'attacks' the muscles in her legs and makes walking painful, if not downright impossible.

I'm Erika/Kira, and as an anime-watcher, lemme tell ya: anime is having a golden age. Last year had some PEAK fucking series. Just from summer alone, we had Takopi's Original Sin, Clevatess, and The Summer Hikaru Died.
Hi, everyone! Pretty exhausted today, so apologies if I'm not super quick on the draw tonight.
Introduce yourself and share a piece of media from this year or last that you've enjoyed that isn't a book or short story!
