I do have to point out that even with a more-accepting society, there is a gulf between "I am okay with queers" and "I am okay with my kid being a queer". People can support LGBT rights in the abstract and then get spooked when their own precious cinnamon roll makes them a "non-traditional family".

apart from anything else...he has literally said he will do this! it's not a hypothetical!
Susanna Reid asks Darren Jones what British companies who export to the US should do to prepare for a possible increase in tariffs.

Darren Jones replies: "you shouldn't prepare for a hypothetical"

I saw the new 28 Years later and I swear there were at least five adverts to join the military
At the cinema. Adverts have just started. We've had three adverts for joining the military already. Wasn't like this during the war on terror years. Horrifying.

I'm good thanks. I think I probably won't move to the country where the authorities pump out neo-Nazi memes and masked militias roam the streets.

They’ll ban teens from social media and realise they forgot to fund what young people always deserved anyway: third spaces, well funded community services, high quality media education…
Downing St is poised to launch a consultation into social media restrictions on teenagers, here’s our scoop from Saturday’s FT:

When “Operation Raise the Colours” started attaching flags to lampposts, you couldn’t analyse it in the media without the reply, “it’s just people innocently expressing national pride”. Now the same people are travelling to France to intimidate refugees.

The effective conclusion of the ET is that trans people have to use third spaces. I think based on very poor legal analysis and uncritical adoption of "gender critical" talking points. But as I say, not binding, and all the relevant issues hopefully to be decided shortly by the High Court.

Nah, I think just some retraining will fix this
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

The British library is in crisis: why does nobody care?
The widespread indifference to the British Library's crippling cyberattack demonstrates a perilous failure to value the knowledge infrastructure vital for national prosperity
