When a politician says: we’ll deregulate health insurance and send you a “freedom account” check, ask: freedom to buy what? If insurers don’t offer real policies or can cherry-pick only healthy people, that money is a coupon for a store that’s not open.

A #tinyjoy to take you into the weekend. I just learned that 13- year-old Charlotte Brontë's TINY book, A Book of Ryhmes [sic] (it measures 9.5 cm by 6 cm) contains a poem titled "A Thing OF fourteen Line's. commonly called a" (& her tiny handwriting made the next word illegible.) #BookHistory

Insulting to have to point this out, but if you have spent even 30 minutes reading US history, you realize that every decade has been dominated by racist hysteria that the "new" people won't ever fit in.

This exact prejudice would have been applied to Miller's forebears, when they fled pogroms.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Compare the administration reaction to the murders of Melissa and Mark Hortman to the response to the guard shooter. It doesn't exactly dispel the belief that they were waiting for this to happen.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

The woman yelling at the ICE officer from behind the counter is fake. We don't need to use AI to show people standing up to fascism. There is tons of real video already doing that. You don't defeat fascism by using its own tools against its victims.
This video is AI (notice her hands, spatula, background details). Misinformation is the real purpose of these tools and everyone knows it.

Amazing...

“Think about it, the canyons of Southwest Texas house a vast and ancient library of painted texts documenting 175 generations of sacred stories and Indigenous knowledge. As an artist and an archaeologist, I can tell you that this is a breathtaking discovery.”

National Guard aren’t ICE or Border Patrol. They didn’t sign up looking to harass and repress people. They’re volunteers, part time, in case of emergency. They didn’t ask for this.

West Virginia National Guard shouldn’t have been deployed in Washington DC.

Victims of the shooter and the president.

First I’ve heard this quote. I love it because my pet peeve as a reader is overexplaining. Let me, as the reader, connect the dots
‘Let the audience add up two plus two. They’ll love you forever.’

I don’t think people outside of healthcare realize how much AAP is standing out as a moral backbone of medicine right now, especially in pediatrics. There is so much fear at institutions. Seeing an org directly and repeatedly targeted refuse to budge an inch is extraordinary.
AAP: ‘Stop wasting government resources to amplify false claims’ about vaccines, autism
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its website to include false claims linking vaccines and autism, prompting a swift rebuke from the AAP and other medical experts.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

Happy Thanksgiving! Today, I’m grateful to all the scientists, public health professionals, health care workers, and others who work so tirelessly and brilliantly to advance our scientific understanding and to save lives. Here is just one beautiful example of helping vulnerable kids flourish.
“Since SCID is caused by a faulty gene, scientists collect babies’ stem cells and, in the lab, introduce a healthy copy, using a harmless, disabled form of H.I.V. as the courier. (While the virus can’t replicate, it is still excellent at integrating its genetic cargo into cells’ D.N.A.)”

The shooting was preventable. Felon 47 should not have had the National Guard in DC. Noem should not have removed TPS from the Afghans. The regime is just using this so that they can crackdown more on people with ICE
